There’s plenty to look at and purchase as many people have contributed items for the sale this summer. There will be athletic equipment, home goods, lots of kids’ stuff, fur- niture, light fixtures, books, appliances, a very few antiques, and other odds and ends — a shopper’s delight to browse through. Join the Hampton Area Lions for their sale and help them help others with their sight and vision programs. All prof- its are used locally. TURKEY DINNER AT THE GRANGE EXETER | Gilman Grange #1 will sponsor a summer turkey dinner on Sunday, August 20 at 12:30 p.m. at the Grange Hall, located at 16 Hall Place in Exeter. If the day is warm, the Grange will have fans running to keep everyone cool. The dinner, which will be served family style, includes turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, string beans, cranberry sauce, gravy, bread, hot and cold beverages and homemade pies. A social hour will begin at 6 p.m., with a buffet dinner served at 7 p.m. Guests are asked to come in casual attire. The event, held at the John Deere dealership on Route 107 in East Kingston, was host to live music, animals from Charmingfare Farm, an antique tractor display, good food put on by the Kensington Fire Department and a bounce house for the kids. PORTSMOUTH | Ballet New Englandwill be holding auditions for its annual sig-nature production, “An 1836 PortsmouthNutcracker” from Friday through Sunday,September 8-10 at Ballet New England’sPortsmouth studios, located at the ConnieBean Center at 135 Daniel Street inPortsmouth.

Performances of BNE’s “Nutcracker”will be presented December 14-16 at theMusic Hall in Portsmouth.

Auditions for Friday will be held from6:30-8:30 p.m. for advanced/ professionalballet students, ages 13+, capable of pointework; Saturday auditions are from 2:30-4:30p.m. for intermediate ballet students, ages11-13.

On Sunday, auditions for ages 5 will beheld from 1-1:30 p.m.; ages 6-7, 1:45-2:15p.m.; age 8, 2:30-3:15 p.m.; ages 9-10, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required andmust be completed by Thursday, September7.

Audition packets will be available start-ing August 21 and can be picked up at theBNE studios in Portsmouth or mailed ifrequested. There will be a $15 audition feeper dancer which must be paid at the timeof pre-registration.

Dress code for auditions is black leotard,pink tights, and pink ballet slippers forgirls/ young women and white T-shirt,black tights, and black shoes for boys/young men. Please make sure that hair istightly secured.
