A Message from Fr. Sebastian’s Desk:
Mother’s Day
Mother is an ineffable experience, an insepa-rable bond and relationship, an emotion and a passion in the life of every human being. Maternity is a dream and an ideal too. The mystery elicited by the word and the influ-ence inscribed in us by our mother are be-yond our imagination. Along with God, she is the one we are infinitely thankful for our life on earth. She leaves a stronger and tangible birthmark of all reminding each of us of our bond with her through the umbilical cord.
Coming from an oriental cultural setting I never had a chance to recognize my mother celebrating a Mother’s day. I understand it is a celebration that came up in this part of the world as early as in the beginning of the twentieth century. To verbally thank my mother felt as if it was artificial when I first came to this nation. Maybe the modern world requires us to spell out loudly our indebted-ness to our mothers and fathers. In the world of yesteryears, although at times it was taken for granted, there was that unique bond existing between mothers and children in the setting of living together and joint family.
In recognition of the need for acknowledging our bond with our mothers, the Church devotes the month of May to Blessed Virgin Mary, our mother and eternal loving presence with God. She is the model for all mothers in protecting and loving their children who are the gifts coming from the love of God. May God bless all the mothers!
Fr. Sebastian T. Augustine, CMI Pastor
Padre Sebastian T. Augustine, CMI Pastor

Expectant Mother Care Baby Bottle Drive
This weekend there will be a baby bottle drive for the babies and mothers helped by Expectant Mother Care (EMC). EMC is the
largest and oldest pregnancy center organization in the NYC area. EMC
empowers girls and women in the NYC area to courageously choose motherhood, and by
helping support her and her unborn child, EMC honors the sanctity of every human life.
This is a wonderful opportunity to be
involved in the pro-life cause. When you leave church after Mass this weekend, please
take a baby bottle from the back of the Church. We ask that you take one home for
your family to fill with donations.
Please return the bottles by Father’s Day, June 20th.
Please send in your pledges to help us reach our parish goal. If you have done so already,
we thank you for your kind donation.

Prayer for the Year of St. Joseph
O Saint Joseph, guardian of Jesus and
husband of Mary, we pray to you for
guidance in this “Year of Saint Joseph” as
proclaimed by Pope Francis.
By your example we have been encouraged
in our daily work and in parenting our
children. You teach us to accept others as
they are, without exception.
To you our Heavenly Father entrusted his
Son, Jesus Christ. In you Our Lady placed
her love and trust. And through your
mentoring, Jesus grew into his adult life.
We praise you and ask of you to defend us
and our loved ones from every evil and guide
us with your grace and mercy.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot at this
moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you.
Amen.
