AFS Societv’s Florida Meeting / T he beginning of next month sees many involved in and interested in filtration and separation heading to Tampa, Florida, USA, to attend the AFS Society’s annual technical conference and exposition. This year promises over 150 presentations by speakers from around the world. In this month’s issue we provide a sneak preview. Beginning on p. 34 we take a look at this year’s exposition, listing many of the companies that will be exhibiting. Each listing comprises contact details and web addresses, plus information on what the companies will have on show. In addition we are featuring the preliminary programme of the technical conference, along with details on the traditional filtration basics short strive to maximise filtering efficiency. A common problem with such media, however, is that the binders, which are required for their manufacture, can often adversely affect the filter’s prrformance. On p.26 John F Baker of BBA Filtration, USA, explains how its StarWeb, a 100% polyester substrate can be used to make composites without the addition of such binders.
