Welcome to the Green Door Art Trail 2019

Welcome to the 2019 Green Door Art Trail which takes place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September. The Trail is the culmination of our exhibiting year with a wide range of members offering work in many different art forms.

The Trail provides the year’s best opportunity to experience the range and quality of members’ work. As in previous years, work will include ceramics, drawing, glass, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, textiles and wood - not forgetting those popular small and special treats, including jewellery and greetings cards. This is the perfect time to re-visit artists you already know, but also a great opportunity to meet artists whose work is not yet familiar to you – you may well get some exciting surprises.

This year more than 50 artists are taking part across 23 venues. While many venues are again the workplaces of individual artists, others are sharing their venue with friends. Some of our larger venues will also be offering refreshments to visitors as they make their way around the Trail. These venues are noted in the catalogue, along with our artists’ suggestions for cafes, pubs and good views close to their venue.

All of our Trail venues are open on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September. Some are also opening on Friday, especially in the evening, so you can get a head start on your Trail visiting. Look out for timings in the catalogue as you plan your route.

Even before the Trail itself, 2019 has been a bumper year for Green Door. Many of the events will already have passed before this catalogue is published but there’s a lot happening in the second half of the year too, so please keep a close eye on the website.

Then, to round off the year, we’ll be back in Staveley from 15-17 November for another Affordable Art weekend and there will be a group exhibition at the Upfront Gallery, Unthank, Penrith from 5 November to 12 January.

We hope you enjoy the Trail.

All of our events are advertised on our website, Facebook and Twitter, or you can sign up to our newsletter for monthly updates (you can do this via our website or Facebook page). The newsletter also highlights what our individual members - a very active group of artists - are doing throughout the year.
