Affiliate Network 2019 8 th Annual Colorado Mentoring Summit 180 attendees and speakers gathered on May 16 for a day of learning and networking through panels, half- day and full-day workshops. Leadership Luncheon Convened 175 corporate employees, government officials, funders, nonprofits and community leaders at the Leadership Luncheon that supported the mentoring movement in Colorado. MENTOR Colorado honored the 2018 NQMS organizations and retiring mentoring legends, Mary Ann Burdick and Luis Villarreal. Free Technical Assistance Provided 48 mentoring agencies/schools with over 1,000 hours of free, individualized technical assistance on a variety of topics, better aligning programs with evidence- based practices. National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS) Supported 21 mentoring organizations (8 new in 2019) through the National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS), supporting agencies as they make continuous quality improvements to better serve their youth. MENTOR Colorado added a second reviewer this year to increase capacity for 2020. MENTOR Colorado continues to be grateful for the mentoring programs in our Affiliate Network! Over the course of 2019, MENTOR Colorado has been working to increase its sustainability and partnering with Affiliates in a variety of ways to achieve shared objectives. Here are some of the ways MENTOR Colorado has been working to transform quality, scale impact and facilitate collaboration.

8th Annual Colorado Mentoring Summit 180 attendees and speakers gathered on May 16 for a day of learning and networking through panels, half-day and full-day workshops. Leadership Luncheon Convened 175 corporate employees, government officials, funders, nonprofits and community leaders at the Leadership Luncheon that supported the mentoring movement in Colorado. Advocacy MENTOR Colorado led the Colorado contingency at Capitol Hill Day in DC, advocating for increased funding for mentoring, policy changes around chronic absenteeism and support for young people in foster care. MENTOR Colorado kicked off the 2019 Colorado legislative session with a breakfast on Capitol Hill, bringing together lawmakers and mentoring agencies to talk about the importance of mentoring.

Mentor Recruitment & Corporate Engagement Promoted mentoring opportunities via social media, local campaigns and national initiatives, resulting in 2500 online searches so far in 2019 through our Mentoring Connector database. MENTOR Colorado held a Starbucks–LinkedIn recruitment event in March as part of a national campaign to create 10K Connections. Through presentations and events, MENTOR Colorado has promoted mentoring with corporations. Participation in events like the Xcel Energy Nonprofit Fair resulted in a spike in searches on the Mentoring Connector.

Part of a National Movement MENTOR Colorado remains an active member of the MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership network. Through this partnership, MENTOR Colorado provides an avenue for agencies to tap into national resources, including webinars, advocacy campaigns and cutting-edge research, including three supplements to the Elements of Effective Practice in Mentoring.
