I. The Election of 1800

A. Federalists v. Democratic RepublicansB. President John Adams ran for reelection

against Thomas Jefferson and Aaron BurrC. The Democratic Republicans used the Alien

and Sedition Acts to make Adams and the Federalists look bad.1) They claimed they were saving America from

oppression and monarchy.
