Introduction To The LSC Design AEC Objects And Scheduling.

AEC Content are objects that can hold data to be referenced by other AEC objects.

AEC Content can be but are not limited to:

    Styles:

    Door* Roofs

    Window* Slabs

    Door/Window Assemblies* StairsSchedule Tables* Railing

    Spaces* End Caps

Multi-view Blocks:Door Tags* Partition Type Tags*

    Window Tags* Detail Marks*

    Section Marks* Elevation Marks*

    Equipment Tags Equipment Blocks

*Multi-view blocks are automatically inserted at the Dwg scale.

The data is associated with an object or style by using Property Set Definitions.

Property Set Definitions are groups of data that relate to specific types of AEC Content.

    For example, Different information is

needed for a door than is needed

for a window; therefore each type

of object style or tag has a separate

Property Set to be associated with it.

Each Property Set Definition is made up of at least one Property Definition.

Property Data Sets are not to be

modified or created by the general

    CAD user.

If you need a Property Definition added

to a Property Data Set, see the CAD

    Management team.

    Windows.

The LSC Documentation Group hasbeen added and the LSC Callouts

    palette has been deleted

A palette named LSC Fire Rated

Assemblies has been added to the

    Design Tool Palette

This tool palette is provided by Autodesk and

is what you would use to draw any basic AEC

objects. On this palette, each object will come

    in as the Standard style.

The style named Standard should never be

modified. If you need to change something in

the style, create a new style by selecting the

object, right clicking and choosing the Copy

and assign option from the shortcut menu.

    Spaces

The Design Palette has two Space tools. The first

one (Space) will insert a standard square space

with an area of 100sqft. The Second tool ( Space

Auto Generate Tool) will allow you to automatically

generate spaces using boundaries that you specify

    like walls or lines.

    Spaces

These are the available options if youve used the space add tool.

You can also edit the shape of aspace by selecting it , rightclicking then select Edit Vertices

from the shortcut menu. Thensimply move your mouse betweenany two existing vertices and thatboundary line will adjust to add avertex where ever you click.

Select the space and edit thedimensions from the properties

palette or use the grips tostretch the space to thedesired size.

AutomaticADT will find boundaries based on the options below

Walls, Lines, Arcs, Polylines, and CirclesAll Linework

Spaces that are automatically OR manuallygenerated from the Generate Spaces tool, will be Associative by default. You can

remove the associative property by selectingNo in the properties box.

The AEC Modify Tools option, provides more ways to modify the

space objects. It is only available onthe shortcut menu when a spacethat is not associative is selected.

This is the dialog youll get if you choose to use the Space Auto Generate tool.

Spaces should come in on the non-plot layer A-Area-Spce

Spaces are not ready to hold data untilyou associate a room tag with it.

After inserting a Room Tag, you can

either select the Room Tag or the Spaceobject to access the property data onthe Extended Data tab in the propertiesbox. This information will be used in theschedule.

Select the Room Tag Tool from the LSC documentation paletteThen select the space that you want the tag associated with.

The Tags will automatically go the A-ROOM-IDEN Layer

    Door Tags

The LSC Door Tag has been built so that the number is adopted from the roomof which the door swings into.

The Tags will automatically go the A-DOOR-IDEN Layer

    New Star Grip

This Grip must be in the room which you want the door numbered after. If you do not want the door to use the number from the room which the door swingsinto, you will pull this grip into the space that the number should follow.

You can add a number suffix by using the extended data tab on the properties box.

The Door schedule gets most of its informationfrom the door tags and the door objects. Butsome information is taken from the objectsaround the door and cannot be edited directlyfrom the schedule or the door objects.

The Door Tag will automatically adopt the room numberin which the door swings. Unless the user moves the

location grip to a different room.

The Fire Rating will automatically be filled in based onthe fire rating of the wall that the door is anchored to.

    Partition Tags

LSC has two Partition Type Tags. The one with the Lock icon, will take information

from the Wall Style. This would allow all the Partition tags for each Wall style to befilled in automatically and updated simultaneously.

In the event that we need to over ride the Style properties, we can use the PartitionTag that does not have the lock icon.

The Tags will automatically go the A-WALL-IDEN Layer

    Window Tags

LSC has two Window Type Tags. The one with the Lock icon, will take informationfrom the Window Style. This would allow all the Window tags for each Window styleto be filled in automatically and updated simultaneously.

In the event that we need to over ride the Style properties, we can use the WindowTag that does not have the lock icon.

The Tags will automatically go the A-GLAZ-IDEN Layer

    LSC Symbols

These multi-view blocks, along with the Tagson the previous tool bar, will come inserted into the

drawing at the current drawing scale.

For the tools that have arrows; you will be promptedfirst for the insertion point of the symbol (which isthe center of the symbol) and the asked which

direction the arrow should point. In the case of the interior elevation with fourdirections, drag the mouse towards the firstelevation and click.

The Circular and Rectangular Detail Boundary toolshave a pre-assigned line type with a pre-assignedwidth. These are drawn just as if you were drawinga circle or a rectangle, Then select where along theboundary you would like the leader to start and thenthe other end of the leader.

The free form detail boundary acts the same way but

allows you to draw any closed shape.

The 2D tags are modified AEC tags that allow us totake advantage of the auto scaling features withoutusing intelligent objects Since intelligent objectsare not required, these tags will have to be editedindividually if need be and no schedules will be ableto be created from them.

Please remember to send any help request to LSC CAD Support.

To ensure consistency between styles and data throughout the office, the CAD management team will becreating the styles for each future project. Someone one on the project must provide us with the informationwell need and a little bit of lead time.

These tools are assigned to the Post 2007 layering standards and colors. They should only be used in drawingsthat are using the LSC_Plotsyle.ctb file.

    Ending Comments

This training is designed to provide the information that is needed to utilize the content that we have created andassuming that the user knows how to place walls, doors, and windows.

If you are unsure of how to place walls, doors, or windows, or just want to be sure your using the software correctly, please send a request to LSC CAD Support and we will provide individual, project specific, assistance.
