CSMCRI is a premier national laboratory under CSIR, New Delhi.
The Institute undertakes a wide range of basi
and applied R&D projects spanning the areas of chemistry,
biology and engineering. The Institute has excellen
infrastructure by way of sophisticated analytical instruments,
modern laboratories, pilot plants, library, local are
network and workshop.
Applications are invited in the prescribed form from talented
and result-oriented Indian Nationals for 8 posts i
the areas of Bio-inorganic chemistry, Membrane Applications,
Environmental Science, Science Dissemination i
Hindi, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Algal
cultivation and Agricultural Sciencerespectively, as per the
following details.
The emoluments and age limit for various posts as per norms is

Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post
of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in inorgani
coordination chemistry; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D
in inorganic coordination chemistry with 2 years o

Post 2 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Membrane Applications
(UR)
Job Requirement: To develop innovative applications of charged
membranes with focus on energy an
environment
Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post

Membrane Science/Electro-membrane Processes; for the post of
Senior Scientist: Ph D in the area of Membran
Science/Electro-membrane Processes with 2 years of additional

Post 3 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Environmental Science
(UR)
Job Requirement: To undertake research projects involving
analysis of diverse inorganic and organic pollutant
and source identification pertaining to problems of contemporary
importance. A strong background ienvironmental science and
sophisticated analytical methodologies is essential. The selected
candidate will als
engage in field work.

institute in Hindi and also to comply with statutor
requirements.Essential Educational Qualification and Experience:
For the post of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in any brancof
Science/Engineering; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D (Sci.)
in any branch with 2 years additiona
experience relevant to the job or Ph D (Engg.). Candidates must
have strong language skills both in Hindi an
English. Those having formal qualification in science
journalism/communication will be preferred.
Post 5 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Environmental Engineering
(OBC)
Job Requirement: To undertake research to assess quantitatively
the movement of contaminants and their fate ithe environment in
target coastal locations and industrial belts. The candidate will
additionally be expected t
propose End-of-pipe solutions. Other responsibilities will
include working as part of a team on specific EIA an
environmental audit projects. Knowledge of various environmental
modeling software including GIS is desirable

of Scientist: M E/M Tech in Chemica
Engineering; for the post of Senior Scientist: M E/M Tech in
Chemical Engineering with 3 years additionaexperience relevant to
the job.
Post 7 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Algal cultivation (OBC)
Job Requirement: To undertake research projects which seek to
advance techniques of cultivation of marin
macro- and micro-algae to improve productivity, scalability and
environmental acceptability.
Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post
of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in alga
research; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D in algal
research with 2 years additional experience relevant to th
job.
Post 8 Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Agricultural Science
(ST)
Job Requirement: To undertake research projects involving
agricultural studies related to development of agro
practices, plant improvement, breeding and soil characterization
for the development of wastelands. Th
candidate should have strong statistical analysis ability.
Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post
of Scientist: Ph. D. (submitted) iAgricultural
Science/Agronomy/Plant breeding; for the post of Senior Scientist:
Ph. D. in Agricultura
Science/Agronomy/Plant breeding with 2 years additional
experience in statistical methods.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. Relaxation as per rules shall apply to candidates from
reserved categories/departmental candidate
Candidates will be placed in Pay Band 3 with Grade Pay of Rs
7600/- or Rs 6600/- depending upon th
performance of the candidate subject to meeting the minimum
criterion specified.
2. Scientists in Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay of Rs.6600/- and Rs.
7600/- are given two additional increment
after their normal pay fixation. The emoluments indicated in (3)
above are inclusive of the increments. It may b
noted that these increments are not treated as a part of pay for
any purpose.3. Scientists in PB-3 with Grade Pay of Rs.6600/- and
Rs.7600/- are eligible for Professional Update Allowanc@ Rs.10,
000/- per annum.
4. The posts carry usual allowances as admissible to Central
Government employees as made applicable t
CSIR employees of the same pay and status stationed at this
Institute.
5. The service is pensionable based on defined contribution
under the New Pension Scheme as mad
applicable to Council employees w.e.f. 1.1.2004. However,
persons selected from other Government Departments Autonomous
Bodies / Public Sector Undertakings / Central Universities having
Pension Scheme on GOI patter
will continue to be governed by the existing Pension Scheme i.e.
CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972.
6. Scientists are entitled for Career Advancement on the basis
of Flexible Complementary Scheme of CSIR.
7. The Director, CSMCRI, Bhavnagar reserves the right not to
fill up any or all the posts, if he so decides.
8. Relaxation in age limit will be allowed to SC/ST/OBC/PH and
other notified categories as per the Govt. o
India orders applicable from time to time. However, age
relaxation to SC/ST/OBC candidates is applicabl
only in cases where the Posts are reserved for them.
9. The cut-off date for determining the age, qualification &
experience of a candidate will be the last dat
for receipt of applications.

10. Relaxation in age limit up to five years may be allowed to
the Council / Government / AutonomouBodies / Public Sector
employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by
the Government o
India from time to time.
11. Relaxation in age limit, qualification and / or experience
in case of exceptionally meritorious candidatemay be considered.
Higher initial pay may be considered for exceptionally meritorious
and deserving candidates.
12. Mere fulfillment of essential educational qualifications
& experience does not entitle a candidate to b
called for Test and / or interview. The decision of the
Director, CSMCRI, in all matters relating to eligibility
acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection,
conduct of interview will be final and binding on thcandidates and
no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained in this connection
from any candidate or his/he
agency.
13. Applications from employees working in Government
Departments, Public Sector Undertakings, Centra
Universities and Government funded Research Agencies will be
considered only if forwarded through propechannel and with a clear
certificate that the applicant will be relieved in case of
selection within one month o
receipt of offer of appointment.
14. The period of experience in the requisite discipline / area
of work, wherever prescribed, shall be countewith effect from the
date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualification
required for the post.

17. Duly completed applications accompanied by attested copies

of age, educational qualification, experience, caste etc. along
with a non-refundable fee of Rs.100/- (Schedule
Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Physically Handicapped candidates
& regular employees of CSIR are exempted frompayment of
application fee) in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the
Director, CSMCRI on an
Nationalized Bank payable at Bhavnagar must reach the
