Advancing His Kingdom International January 2017 THE UNEXPECTED HAPPENED TO US: God had given us the grace to finish well 2016. We departed for Kenya on 17 th of January 2017’, breezed through the airports with no delays, cleared customs with just a smile and wave, not one bag being checked, arrived at our ministry center around 11pm thanking the Lord we are HOME! We awaken that next morning started unpacking and trying to stay awake as we adjust to the 9-hour difference in the time zone. Sunday morning feeling fresh, we got dressed ready to attend the ICF church. After church we met with one of the church elders inquiring about the youth ministry to get Makayla connected with some kids. We left, went to get a bite to eat, pick a few things at the grocery store then the “UNEXPECTED HAPPENED”. We received a phone call telling us there had been a robbery. We quickly checked out and headed home, a 45 min drive. Once we arrived, the Kenyan Police, KK Security and the Nyala Estates people were waiting for us. We went into the house, the thieves had taken our laptops, our 3 terabyte hard drives which had all our backups and files, a brand new video camera that had not been used yet, Darleen’s iPad, my kindle and Makayla’s charm bracelet she received for Christmas. We also lost a large amount of cash that we had just withdrawn to purchase school uniforms, shoes, teacher payroll for the month, our car insurances and a few other items needed. Needless to say we are heartbroken that this would happen, but very thankful that our grounds keeper was not injured and that we were not home at the time. Our hope and trust is in our God who has called us to serve Him knowing that our lives are in His hands and that things can be replaced. We immediately sent a message to our AHKI Prayer Team to pray for us and for God to give us peace. We are so thankful for you, standing in the gap for us, God gave to each of us His peace and love for those responsible to be caught and that they will come to a saving relationship with Christ. It is easy to give the glory in the good peaceful times in life, but we really needed a fresh fire of the Holy Spirit strength to give Him the glory that day. That night was amazing, all three of us awoke that next morning with such a peaceful and restful heart that only God can give. Humbled by His love and grace we pressed on, seeking how God wanted us to handle the next steps. His Word to us was, just keep doing what I have called you to do and I will continue to lead and provide for every need, and how He has. We have received many emails and Facebook messages asking how they could help us as AHKI Ministry recover the loss. We are so blessed by the response of those who have heard the voice of the Lord and have either sent money or they are gathering things to bring to us this year by mission teams. We have stepped out in faith trusting God will do what only God can do, as we continue to do our part. As of this newsletter, no one has been captured or things been recovered. Thank you for your prayers, for your support and for your love. Some have asked about our future and safety. To let you know, we have made some changes in how we lock up and are looking into installing an alarm system. We are staying and not planning or seeking to leave Kenya J Page 1 of 2 Below are just some of the new children we have this year in nursery class. God willing, within the next few weeks all of the children should receive their new school uniform, school shoes and backpacks. We have added 3 rd grade this year to our school, which brings our maximum capacity to 216 children. At this time we have 186 children enrolled.

PRAYER: • Pray for Darleen and Makayla while I’m gone to South Africa. • STTF Teachers to be passionate for teaching and loving the children. • J-Life Africa, impacting 24 countries in Africa and Pioneering into North Africa! • Makayla, our granddaughter as she adjusts to the culture, new friends and homeschool • Darleen and I as we pour Jesus into Makayla and into many lives here in Kenya. • School Children Sponsorship – We are at 40% of reaching our goal of 150! • INTERNSHIP- God will lead the right people to come and serve with us for 4-8 weeks • Mission Teams, to come to serve our community, school and churches. • Mission “WORK” Team, to come serve at our ministry center and school • God’s financial provision for us as AHKI to continue ministering in Africa

• J-LIFE AFRICA REGIONAL DIRECTORS SUMMIT: Pray for me, as I will be heading to South Africa for a meeting with all the J-Life Regional Directors across Africa.

This will be a time of prayer, listening, vision casting and looking at what we need to do and change to be more effective in our training.

• South Coast; With great anticipation God has opened a door for us in March to travel into a new area to train pastors and church leaders in the South Coast area, south of Mombasa. Chris and Lisa Moore from the USA with their ministry “Real 4 Christ” have set up this opportunity for us to impact not only pastors of churches they have planted but also other pastors and leaders in the area. Please pray for God to use us in a powerful way.

• Nairobi Youth Pastors and Key Leaders; We will be continuing with our second of four modules of discipleship training with some of the Key Youth Leaders in Nairobi coming from Nairobi Chapel, Nairobi Baptist and Nairobi Chapel Lavington. We look forward to our second training “Foundations” studying the scriptures of what were Jesus’ Foundational Principles in how He built His disciples. Then hearing how God has been using the first module of training to impact the lives of youth through being effective in “Winning / Building / Equipping & Multiplying” to release Discipleship Movement across Africa. Pray for this young generation of disciples that they will continue being passionate for Jesus, studying His Life in how He made disciples that made disciples.
