Keep It Up to Keep it Off

Keeping your new eating and exercise habits up will help you control your weight and reduce your risk of chronic health conditions down the road. Often as people begin to feel better and gain self-confidence from the healthy changes they’ve made, they feel like they no longer need their new healthy habits. But it’s important to remember that muscles diminish over time if not exercised, and you can easily gain back the weight that was lost.

Set New Goals

After weight loss and adopting a healthier lifestyle, people can experience more self-esteem and a desire to try new things they couldn’t do or didn’t feel like trying before. Setting new goals is a great way to advance your progress even further. Plus, it can help with motivation and get you excited to stick to your goals. Maybe you’ve always wanted to run a 5k, or maybe you are interested in participating in a bike race or other fitness competition. Signing up for an activity can be a great motivator to step up your exercise, especially if it’s for a charity or on someone else’s behalf.

Reconstruct your goals

If you find you’re losing motivation to maintain your new healthy habits, it is a good idea to rebuild them. You’ll learn more in chapters 2 and 3 about specific ways you can restructure your nutrition and fitness goals.

Additionally, if you’ve reached a weight you feel comfortable with, but are interested in dropping few more pounds, it can be help to reassess your goal weight.

Finally, using weight-loss apps can help you keep track of your goals, stay on top of your progress and provide insight into how you can take your goals to the next level based on your personal progress and trends you may notice from tracking.
