Advanced Placement United States History II Mrs. Hornstein Welcome to Apush! Next year you will be challenged to think critically, analyze historical events, and write extensively. In preparation for the type of work you will be doing, you are asked to complete the following summer assignment. Please complete the following readings. After each document, there are three questions (Identify; Analyze; Evaluate)- answer each in full and complete sentences. Also answer any other questions that I have indicated. This work will help bridge the gap between 10 th grade U.S. History I and 11 th grade U.S. History II, which will pick up with the end of the 19 th century. It will also give you a glimpse into the thinking you will be required to do next year. We will be analyzing important documents in American history throughout the year – this assignment will help prepare you for intensive document analysis we will be doing regularly. In addition, I hope this assignment will encourage you to think critically about some key issues we will be studying. Be sure to read the documents carefully and critically. You will be asked to discuss these documents and may be tested on them in the first month of school. I look forward to a challenging, intriguing, and fun school year as we all face the world of Apush and I hope to help guide you through a great learning experience. Good luck! Type all of your answers, use a proper heading and save them as a PDF in Google Drive. They will be graded in September.
