Advanced Endoscopy Review Course for
Nurses and Associates
This course is designed for nurses and associates who are interested in expanding their knowledge of general and advanced endoscopy. Lectures, videos, demonstrations and hands on workshops are presented regarding the latest trends in : ERCP, EUS, GERD & Barrett’s esophagus, stenting in the GI tract, pancreatic cancer and cyts, CLE, GI bleeding and more.
This course will also aid in certification review: general nursing care, GI procedures, interventions, professional standards and responsiblilities.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Drake Hotel on April 30-May 1, 2016 at a discounted conference rate of $99.00/night. Anyone interested should call 630-571-0000, use code: GI course.

Faculty Agenda
Dr. Kamran Ayub, MD, MRCP Dr. Ayub completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Advanced Endoscopy at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston,TX. Dr. Ayub is considered an expert in the field of endoscopic ultrasound, Pancreato-‐Biliary disease Barrett’s Esophagus, and advanced endoscopy / ERCP. He has published numerous articles, abstracts and has
spoken extensively at national and international meetings. Dr. Ayub has described new techniques of endoscopic ultrasound guided nerve blocks, and written a book chapter on this topic. He held an NIH Grant on Barrett’s Esophagus from 2002 to 2008 and specializes in the management of High Grade Dysplasia and early carcinoma esophagus. Dr. Ayub has served as Chief of Endoscopic Ultrasound at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and has served as the Director of Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Ayub has a special interest in additional areas, including Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, gastrointestinal oncology, esophageal diseases, chronic abdominal pain, and endoscopic ultrasound-‐guided nerve block for patients with chronic pain. Dr. Ayub is one of the few physicians in the country specializing in Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy.
Michelle Shaban, RN, BSN, CGRN Michelle Shaban is a skilled therapeutic endoscopy nurse and has spoken at advanced courses and SGNA events at a national level. She currently is the Nurse Navigator for GI Oncology and the Bariatric Center at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Michelle is also a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Director for Quality Control at
DrAyub’s office. Presently attending Olivet Nazarene University for Nurse Practitioner with Master’s degree, Michelle aspires to integrate her experience and education within the field of gastroenterology.
Taylor Aldridge, MMS, PA-‐C Taylor Aldridge is a certified PA who has been working with Dr. Ayub since 2012, focusing on diseases of the pancreas, bile duct, esophagus and GI malignancies. Taylor has a special interest in scholarly activities including medical education and research. She has won several educational grants for Cook Medical and Boston
Scientific. Taylor is co-‐investigator in several research projects related to advanced endoscopy . Taylor has been the course organizer for more than a dozen advanced endoscopy courses. She graduated from SIU , with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Science and a Masters’s from Midwestern University.
