Your Voice, Your World Series

News You Can Use • Pitch Perfect • Vote for Me • World Changing Words

Girl Scouts helps girls and young women find their voice so they can speak out on issues that matter to them. We encourage girls to be aware of current events and changes in social norms, we empower girls to effect change in the world around them by influencing decision makers,

and we give them the tools and confidence to make change happen.

Journey Jumpstarts Series

Journey Jumpstarts are intended to get leaders comfortable with delivering the Journey materials of their girls’ choice. Council staff and leaders work together to walk girls through the first portion of their selected Journey, and then the girls and leaders complete the rest on their own. Leaders are invited to reach out to council staff after the Jumpstart if they need more advice, or want to share tips and ideas to keep girls

moving toward their Take Action Projects.

At Girl Scouts, girls develop their potential through age-appropriate activities that enable them to discover their values,

skills, and the world around them; connect with others in a multicultural environment; and take

action to make a difference in their world. GSHNJ’s Program Series are designed to

be girl-led, cooperative, hands-on, and progressive—processes that create

high-quality experiences to help each girl discover her inner go-

getter, innovator, risk-taker, and leader.

Girls who participate in Girl Scout programs

benefit in five important ways: strong sense of self,

positive values, challenge seeking, healthy relationships,

and community problem solving. When girls exhibit these attitudes

and skills, they become responsible, productive, caring, and engaged

citizens who are happier, healthier, less likely to be

victimized, and more likely to become successful,

well-adjusted adults.
