Hi Alex

How are you?

missed lots of goals. After, it rained, so we stopped.

On Sunday, my auntie and uncle visited us for lunch. My

mum cooked pasta. It wasn’t very nice. After lunch, my

15th August

Hi, Marta!

I’m sending you a letter from Mar del Plata. I’m

on holiday here with my family. I’m writing this

letter on the beach!

We’re staying in a really nice hotel next to the

beach. There are a lot of young people here.

There’s a disco at the hotel every evening – it’s

really cool.

At the moment dad is swimming in the sea. Mum

isn’t swimming but she’s wearing her bikini and

she’s reading a magazine. My brother is shopping

– he wants to buy some new shorts and a cap. I

can see him now – he’s trying on some funny hats!

I hope you’re having a good holiday in Cancun.

Send me a postcard!

Love,

Ana

My favourite film

by Laura

My favourite film is The Lord of the Rings: the

Return of the King. It’s a fantasy film about the

book by J. R. R. Tolkien. I saw it at the cinema with

my friends because they like fantasy films too.

The most important characters are Frodo and

Sam. They go to Mount Doom because they want to

destroy the One Ring. There are a lot of battles in

the film. Peter Jackson directed the film. He made

it in New Zealand.

I like The Lord of the Rings because it’s really

exciting. It’s longer than most films, but the actors

are great. The most fantastic thing about this film

is the special effects. It also won a lot of Oscars.

Zoe At school we’re doing a project about jobs and the way

work is changing with technology. So I asked my grandma

and grandad about the jobs they had when they were

younger.

My grandma was a nurse – she worked in the hospital in my

town. She said it was difficult because the day was very

long – she started work at seven o’clock in the morning,

and she finished at six o’clock. Sometimes she worked all

night.

My grandad was a police officer. He worked at the police

station, but he also spent a lot of time walking through the

town and talking to people. He really liked his job. But he

had to get up early, too. He started work at half past seven

and he finished at four o’clock. He stopped working when

he was 65.

Then I asked my mum and dad about their jobs …
