At the convention we'll attend seminars that will help us learn more about lodge operations. They will also let us know if our lodge becomes a Premiere Lodge Award winner. Some of the criteria for making this award are retention, arrearage, new application goals, and our total giving to Mooseheart and other charitable institutions. It is based on a point system throughout the fiscal year. If we meet the requirements and make this award, it helps the lodge save a percentage off the per-capita we have to pay the Wisconsin Moose Association each year. Our annual family picnic is just around the corner; August 27 from noon to 5:00 pm. The lodge will be giving away $3000 in our annual drawing. Your tickets will be arriving in the mail shortly. Please help us make the picnic become a success by either purchasing the tickets yourself, or by selling them. The proceeds from this fundraiser will help defray ongoing lodge and picnic expenses. Finally, for those that smoke by the front and back doors, please don't put your cigarettes out on the ground, dispose of them properly. There are plenty of receptacles around. Administrator’s Corner

Summer is finally here and our outside games have now begun. Hopefully our board of officers will come up with some new and interesting things to do here at the lodge. Our new fiscal year has just gotten under way and we have two brand new officers on our board which are here to help serve you. Brian Brusha is our new Prelate and Duane Michalski is our new Trustee. Please welcome them and thank them for taking part in being an officer of the lodge.

Our Governor Carl and I will be representing the lodge at this year’s Moose International Convention in St. Louis, Missouri the weekend of July 4th.

Other members are complaining about how it looks, and this is your lodge, so treat it as such. Thanks for all you do.

What’s Going On

Brewer Basket Drawing: The Women of the Moose have put together an awesome Brewer tailgate party basket valued at $285 to raffle off on July 1, 2016 at 8:00 pm. The prize, which is on display in the social quarters, includes all you need for a fun-filled day at the ball park. Tickets are on sale now and will remain so until the time of the drawing; 1 for $2, 3 for $5, or 10 for $10. Just see your friendly bartenders. The entire list of prizes can be seen under the DOCUMENTS tab on the website.

July 4th: There will be no breakfast on July 3, and the lodge will be closed on the 4th. Have a fun and safe holiday!

Moose Moola: July’s moola drawing has been moved to the 9th due to the holiday.

WOTM All-Star Game Cookout: The WOTM are tailgating! Come out to the Oasis and enjoy the All-Star game on July 12. Burgers and hot dogs will be available for purchase. We will be running drink specials during the game as if it were a Brewer game.

Moose Riders Poker Run: The Moose Riders will be having a poker run as their annual community fundraiser this year to benefit the Caledonia Parks and Rec program. There are over 20 local taverns taking part in this event. You do not need a motorcycle to participate; this is open to all (street legal) vehicles. More info and registration form can be found on the Moose Riders board in the social quarters, or under the DOCUMENTS tab on the website. Contact Randall Solberg at [email protected] with any additional questions.

Lodge Picnic: We will have our annual lodge family picnic on August 27 from noon to 5:00 pm. Look for your raffle tickets to come in the mail soon. Lots of volunteers are needed on this day, so consider giving your lodge an hour or 2 of your time so everyone can enjoy the day. Look for sign-up sheets in the lodge, or call during office hours and let them know you can help out.

Torsk Dinner: Also referred to as “poor man’s lobster”, torsk consists of baked cod filets with melted butter, boiled red potatoes, carrots and onions. Coleslaw, rye and pumpernickel bread, bleu cheese, mustard gravy, kringle and coffee finishes the meal. Or does it? Absolutely not! No respectable torsk dinner would be complete without shorty beer and shots of Akvavit; a caraway flavored vodka from Scandinavia. The Akvavit is consumed as a group, with all participants toasting, saying “SKOAL” as long and loud as possible. Half of the torsk dinner is enjoying the meal, the other half is enjoying the camaraderie of the people. Try it, you might just like it. August 30, 7:00 pm.

Oasis: The Oasis is now officially open weeknights at approximately 6:00 pm. Please enjoy the outdoor setting and the convenience of the outside bar. But with this great power comes great responsibility. We are now counting on YOU to clean up after yourselves and put your trash and recyclables into the correct receptacles. They are clearly marked so there is no excuse. We appre-ciate your cooperation. Take pride in keeping your lodge neat and clean!

WOTM T-shirt/Sweatshirt Sale: The WOTM will be running a shirt sale from mid July through Aug 27. Watch for an email with the details.

Coming Soon: WOTM Packer Party on September 11. State Cornhole tournament in Racine on October 1. Craft Fair on October 22. Children’s and adult’s Halloween parties on October 29.

Always check the website for the most current information: lodge437.moosepages.org.

Spend the day at Noah's Ark with the Mooseheart kids

The Juneau County Lodge #1913 is again organizing a day at Noah's Ark in the Dells for the kids of Moose-heart, and you can be there too! July 23, 2016 will be the 20th year of this great event. For only $20, you get admission to the park, and lunch with the kids. If you can't make it, you can still help by making a donation to help defray the cost.

The letter from the Juneau County lodge and reservation form with all of the details can be viewed and downloaded on our website by clicking on the "Documents" tab and finding the "Dells with the kids" document. They can also be obtained from the office.

Proudly present your membership card to your volunteer bartenders every time you come to the lodge.
