Administration and Finance departments provided hands-on work experience to students, including 836 student employees, 32 interns, 397 volunteers, and nine university service-learning projects.

Business Services • awardedeightmealplanstostudentsreferredbyStudentCare Servicesandthreediningscholarshipstoexceptionalstudents includingveteransandstudentsintheAfricanaStudiesprogram;and • launchedtheTextbookPriceMatchprogramwithBarnes&Noble, offeringmatchedpricesfortextbooksofferedbylocalbookstoresand onlineretailersAmazon,Chegg,andBN.comtoensurestudents received the most competitive pricing.

Environmental Health and Safety increased insurance coverage to includeliabilityinsurancetosupportstudents’educationalactivitiesabroadandexpandedaccidentandsicknesscoverage.

Facilities Operations • usedareliability-centeredmaintenanceapproachtomaintainand repair university assets, completing 80,398 work order phases and 326 lifesafetyworkorders;and • increasedthird-shiftschedulingtoreducedisruptionsbydaytime systemsmaintenanceandhousekeepingfunctions,andmaintaineda “KnightShift”toperformstatutorylifesafetyinspections.

Facilities Planning and Construction • managed12majorbuildingprojects,withavalueof$174.6million; • managedmorethan847minorrenovationprojects,withavalueof $108.2million;and • collaboratedwiththeOfficeofInstructionalResourcesonmorethan 135TechnologyFeeclassroomimprovementprojects.

Finance and Accounting • beganprocessingstudentmealplanpaymentsthroughStudent Accounts.Inaddition,newlegislationexemptingprepaidmealplans fromsalestaxcreated$850,000insavingstostudents; • launchedapaymentplanoptionfortuitionandfeeswithover1,100 studentsparticipatingintheFallandover1,400intheSpring;and • preparedfinancialinformationrequiredfortheSACSCOC Accreditationandacceleratedthepreparation,auditanddeliveryof UCF’s2014-15AuditedFinancialStatementsbythreemonthsto accommodate the accreditation deadlines.

Human Resources • providedconsultationandimplementationguidancetovarious collegesanddepartments,includingUCFAdvancement,Regional Campuses,InternationalAffairsandGlobalStrategies,andFaculty Excellence,duringorganizationalrestructuring; • rebrandedtheEmploymentSectiontoTalentAcquisition,changing thefocustobuildingastrategicdirectionwithcollegesand departmentsforrecruiting;and • partneredwithFacultyExcellencetoadministertheFacultyPaid ParentalLeaveProgramthatwillenhancefacultybenefitsandsupport recruiting and retaining top talent.

Landscape and Natural Resources • supportedthreeindependentundergraduatestudentprojects, facilitated27classvisitstotheArboretumthatreached2,585 students,andpermittedactivitiesinvolving5,385studentsandstaff intheArboretumandNaturalLands; • completed95campusenhancementsandlandscapeimprovement projects, creating a more esthetically pleasing learning and working environment;and • hostedAdopt-a-RoadandAdopt-a-Pondprogramsinpartnership withtheArboretumthatengaged357volunteersfrom23different studentgroups,working412hourstocleardebrisfromcampusponds and roadways.

Purchasing processed8,354purchaseordersworth$161.6million,37complexformalsolicitations,and679contractsforuniversitycommoditiesand services.

Resource Management • generated$301,245inrevenuethroughpublicsalesofsurplus property;and • processedmorethan15,000supplyrequeststosupportfacility maintenanceandhousekeeping;

Security and Emergency Management provided graduate level instructionintheSchoolofPublicAdministrationandemergencymanagementmaterials and speakers to undergraduate and international students.

Sustainability Initiatives • co-developedandofferedthecourseCCE3930SystemAnalysisfor SustainabilityinEngineeringSystems;and • sponsoredacapstoneseniordesignteamthatdesignedafloating, photovoltaicsystem;thefirstofitskindinthenation.

The CFE Arenahostedfourcareerfairsthatservedmorethan7,500UCFstudents,veterans,andcommunitymembers. University Police • trained18,133studentsusingthemandatoryonlinepreventionmodule “NotAnymore.”Since2010,81,113studentscompletedthemodule. Trainingincludeseducationaddressingsexual,dating,anddomestic violence;stalking;andbystanderinterventionincompliancewiththe ViolenceAgainstWomenAct(VAWA)amendmentsof2014;and • providedescortstostudents,staff,faculty,andvisitorsduringlate nighthours.Ridershipincreasedfrom11,992ridersin2014-15to 13,151riders;a10percentincrease. Utilities and Energy Services • exceeded1.1milliongrosssquarefeetofLeadershipinEnergyand EnvironmentalDesign(LEED)certifiedspace(17percentofcampus heatedandairconditionedspace); • assistedinobtainingLEEDSilvercertificationfortwobuildings:the AcademicVillagePhaseIIandtheVisitorCenter,totaling17certified buildingsoncampus;and • providedutilityplanttoursandguestspeakersforstudent organizations and engineering undergraduate classes.

Facilities Planning and Construction contracted with small, minority-owned,woman-owned,service-disabledveteran-ownedbusinessen-terprises(SMWVBE)on35minorrenovationprojects,withatotalconstructionvalueof$4.5million.

Human Resources • hiredabilingualEmployeeRelationsCoordinator; • supportedEqualOpportunityandAffirmativeActionwithdata acquisitiontoinformtheuniversity’sAffirmativeActionPlan;and • increaseduseofdiversity-specificemploymentadvertisingsources, increasingfacultyapplicationsfromdiversedemographicsby13.3percent.

Parking and Transportation Services usedsixminorityvendorsforservices such as general maintenance, garage cleaning, parking signage, and event services.

Purchasing • documented$36.9millioninbusinessexpenditureswithSMWVBE vendors,a$5.2millionincrease(14percent); • increasedexpenditureswithdiversecommoditiesprovidersfrom$9.9 millionto$13.1million,a32percentincrease; • partneredwitheightexternalorganizationsandparticipatedin10external vendoroutreacheventstodiscoveradditionaldiversesources;and • implementedaDiversityLiaisonsprogramwith28employeesserving as campus-wide partners to increase diverse vendor relationships within each department. Security and Emergency ManagementdevelopedguidesforstudentstravelingabroadincollaborationwithInternationalAffairsandGlobalStrategies.

Sustainability InitiativestraveledtoCaribbeanandLatinAmericancountries to partner with non-governmental organizations to address poverty, economic vitality, and community development.

The CFE ArenaprovidedaSpanishversionoftheLightUpUCFsatisfactionsurvey.

University Police • partneredwithSGAtopurchaseanADAcompliantgolfcartforStudent EscortPatrolService(SEPS); • conducted29SAFEWomen’sSelf-Defensesessionswith436 participants;and • providedconsentandsexualviolenceeducationtoLGBTQ+students groupsthatrelatestotheirspecificpopulation.

PulseAdministration and FinancestaffcoordinatedtheUCFBloodDrivesresponseeffortsinpartnershipwithOneBloodandmanyUCFdepartments,collecting424unitsofbloodandengagingmorethan50UCFvolunteers.AtruckloadofleftoverfoodanddrinkdonationswereprovidedtoSecondHarvestFoodBank.

Facilities and Safety • partneredwithRosenHotelsandResortstoprovideanddeliver hundredsofboxedmealstopersonnelworkingattheOrlando EmergencyOperationsCenter;and • coordinatedwiththePoliceDepartment,SDES,thePresident’s office,andAdministrationandFinance,inpartnershipwiththe JuniorLeagueofGreaterOrlando,collectmorethan800stuffed animalsthatweredeliveredtoPulsevictimsandtheirfamilies.

Human Resources • supportedtheUCFcommunityandNewsandInformationTeam toidentifypastandpresentemployeesatthePulsetragedy;and • staffmembersdonatedpersonalfundstoarrangerefreshmentsfor thecounselingstaffprovidingservicestoUCFstudents. Security and Emergency Managementassistedwiththelogisticsfordonationmanagementandbloodbusevents,aswellasworkingthevigil.

The CFE Arena partneredwithCoxMediaGroup,Spectra,UCFParkingServices,Aramark,andotherstohosttheCountryStrongbenefitconcert,raisingmorethan$275,000fortheOneOrlandoFund

University Police • providedsupport,victimservicesadvocates,andK-9officers duringtheimmediateincidentresponse;and • providedpersonnelsupportforblooddriveactivitiesaswellas storagefordrop-offdonationsofdrinksandfoodforblood drives.

Administration and Finance departments saved the university more than $17.4millionthroughvariouscostsavingsinitiatives.

Business Services • negotiatedacontractwiththeCollegiateLicensingCompanyand securedahighergrossroyaltyrateonlicensedmerchandiseforthe university; • processedover3,700passportswitha25percentgrowthinpassport revenues.

Debt Management • collaboratedwiththeUCFStadiumCorporationtorefinanceitsBright HouseNetworks(BHN)Stadiumdebtresultinginannualsavingsof $354,000andreleased$4.1millionofrestrictedsurplustoUCF AthleticsAssociation(UCFAA); • collaboratedwiththeUCFConvocationCorporation(UCFCC)to refinanceitsCFEArenadebtresultinginannualsavingsof$1.1 million.UCFCCalsofunded$2.6millionfortheconstructionofthe BHNStadium’sCarlBlack&GoldCabana;and • collaboratedwithKUDInternationaltoattainBoardofGovernors approvalofthehotelandconventioncenterprojectonUCFproperty.

Environmental Health and Safety • securedmorethan$370,000ininsurancesettlementsforproperty damagecausedbyweatherincidents,equipmentfailures,and automobileaccidents; • identifiedacost-shareprogramfundedbytheDepartmentofEnergy, reducingdisposalexpensesfromeightunwantedradioactivesources by45percent; • implementedafirst-aidkitrefillprogram,resultingina52percent decreaseinmonthlycostswhileincreasingtheinspectionfrequency; • performedaninternalauditofthebiomedicalwastevendorservices, reducingmonthlydisposalexpensesby6percent;and • createdandimplementedamoreefficientEmployeeSafety OrientationTrainingprogram.

Facilities Operations • implementedprocesscompliancereports,achieving88percent completionofscheduledmaintenance,anincreaseof7.5percentover thepreviousyear; • bundledlifesafetyemergencylightingandemergencyexitinspections, reducingthetimerequiredtoperformcode-requiredinspectionsby approximately7,500hoursandsavingapproximately$260,000;and

The CFE Arena hostedgraduationsforDirectConnectpartners:SeminoleStateCollegeandValenciaCollege,aswellastheUniversityofPhoenixand21localhighschools. University Police • coordinatedwiththeFederalLawEnforcementTrainingCenter (FLETC)tocompleteactiveshootertrainingandaTacticalMedic coursewithotherlocallawenforcementagencies.UniversityPolice developedanIncidentCommandprogramdesignedtoprepare respondersthefirst45minutesofacriticalincident;and • initiatedthenewBarTabBystanderInterventionProgramtoeducate barstaffaboutpreventionofsexualviolence.Theprogramisa partnershipwithUSF,OrlandoPolice,andtheVictimServiceCenter ofOrangeCounty.

Utilities and Energy Services • hostedtheAmericanSocietyofHeatingandRefrigeration Air-conditioningEngineers(ASHRAE)Conference’stechnicaltour, showcasingUCF’sutilityproductionplantoperationsfor57industry professionalsfromeightcountries;and • promotedandenforcedsafediggingandexcavationpractices,in collaborationwithSunshine811andUniversityPolice,protectinglife andcriticalutilityinfrastructure.

Finance and Accounting • co-chairedtheInfrastructureWorkingGroupbetweenShorelight andS.T.A.R.S.,UCF’sGlobalpathwaypartners.Theworkgroup developedbusinessprocessestoimproveefficienciesoffinancial transactionsbetweenallpartners; • hostedthe2015UniversityTaxPeerGroup(UTPG)annualmeeting onourcampus.TheUTPGisaselectgroupofuniversitytax professionalswhostrivetoattainefficiencieswithvarioustax compliancerequirements.Taxprofessionalsfrom12majoruniversities wereinattendance;and • representedhighereducationontheIRSInformationReporting ProgramAdvisoryCommittee(IRPAC),allowingtheuniversityto haveadirectrepresentationwiththeIRStodiscussreportingissues andsuggestimprovementsforefficiency.

Landscape and Natural Resources • partneredwiththeFloridaParkServiceonprescribedburnson347 acresofstatelands;and • assistedwiththeFloridaNativePlantSociety2016AnnualConference byservingontheconferencesteeringcommitteeandprovidinga speaker.

Parking and Transportation Serviceswelcomed20,052visitorstotheVisitors’InformationCenterandissuedappropriatedailypermits.

Purchasing • partneredwithnationalconsortiumstosave$5.5millionwhile earning$123,000inrebates;and • partneredwiththeSUSonBOGSharedServicesInitiativesand saved$2.95millionusingthosecollaborativecontracts.

Resource Managementdonated$45,986(40pallets)insurplusedbuildingmaterialsandofficesuppliestoHabitatforHumanity.

Security and Emergency Management • createdanationalbombthreattrainingvideoincollaborationwith theInternationalAssociationofChiefsofPoliceandDepartmentof HomelandSecurity; • renewedUCF’sStormReadydesignationwiththeNationalWeather Service.UCFleadstheregioninsevereweatherpreparedness;and • hostedtheKNIGHTSHAREExpo,partneringwith29organizations to provide training and outreach to improve campus preparedness.

Landscape and Natural Resources • employedArborProsoftware,updatingaGeographicInformation System(GIS)databaseofmorethan7,000urbantreestotrackand managetree-relatedworkorders;and • deployedthermaldata-loggingfieldsensorsthroughoutcampus landscapesandnaturalareastoassessthe“heatisland”effectoncampus.

Parking and Transportation Services • implementedPassportparking,asmartphoneapplicationusedtopay formeteredparkinginlieuofcoins,on130metersoncampus;2,575 usershavetakenadvantageofthisprogram; • upgradeditscitationwritersoftwareandhardware;and • enabledWi-FicapabilityonallBlackandGold,HealthSciences Campus,andRosenCollegeofHospitalityManagementshuttles.

Finance and Accounting • receivedapprovalfromtheInternalRevenueServiceexemptingthe UCFConvocation,UCFStadium,andFinanceCorporationsfrom filingFederalIncomeTaxReturns.Annualcostsavingsestimatedat $10,000peryear;and • developedandimplementedauniversity-wideformalexceptional fundingrequestprocess,afacultystartupfundingpolicy,and developedaproposedmodelforallocatingtuitiongrowthfundsto academicunitsbasedonworkloadandperformance.

Landscape and Natural Resources • received$9,900instategrantsfromtheFloridaFishandWildlife ConservationCommission(FWC)totreatandremoveinvasiveplants fromconservationareas,achievingasavingsof$137,778since2009; and • saved$10,120bycompleting55landscapeandirrigationprojectsin-house.

Parking and Transportation Services • saved$2,095,100ininterestbyusing$6millionindepartmental unrestrictedcashreservestopayfortheconstructionoftheGarageC extension,adding604spaces;and • saved$47,528byperformingmaintenancetasksandcompletingminor projects in-house.

Purchasing • savedtheuniversityover$14millionusingprovenprocurement methodsincludingincreasedcompetition,negotiations,andusageof pre-existingcontracts; • executedanelevatormaintenancecontractforSUSpartnersthatwill saveUCFandSUSpartnersapproximately$122,000annually;and • orchestratedtheprocurementofstate-of–the-artstadiumandarena audioandvideoequipmentthatresultedin$193,000innegotiatedsavings.

Resource Management • auditedcontractors’GuaranteedMaximumPrices(GMPs),resulting incostsavingsofmorethan$917,000fortheCollegeofMedicine– ClinicalSkillsRenovation,StudentHealthCenterAddition,and DistrictEnergyIVPlant–EarlySiteInfrastructure; • implementedasurpluspropertydatabase,resultingindirectcosts savingsof$709,052for615adoptionsbydepartmentsinneed,a savingsincreaseof34percent;and • realizedconstructionprojectsavingsofmorethan$11,050forIRS Rule179Dtaxsavingsforenergyefficiencies.

Security and Emergency Management • saved$107,000byprocuringpre-ownedmassnotificationequipment, cuttingcostsby96percent;and • savedover$10,000byprovidinginternalredesigningandenhancement oftheStadiumOperationsCentertechnology.

The CFE ArenahostedtheeighthseasonofLightUpUCF,whichfeaturednewattractions,welcomedarecordnumberofattendeesandgenerated revenues that more than covered the cost.

University Police • receivedagrantfromtheFloridaDepartmentofHealthSexual ViolencePreventionProgramforafiveyearprojecttotaling$625,000 toimplementtheGreenDotBystanderInterventionstrategyatUCF. Thegrantwillfundonefull-timeGreenDotCoordinator,twopart- timefacilitators,andawarenessmaterials; • receivedgrantsfromOrangeCountyOfficeofDrugFreeCoalition ofover$10,000forSectorIINoiseAlcoholPatrols(SNAP)andDUI Enforcement;and • finishedinsecondplaceforTrafficSafetyProgramsintheFlorida LawEnforcementChallenge,earninggrantfundingforLEDflaresfor night-shiftofficersandsafetylighting.

Utilities and Energy Services • achievedanenergyreductionof$13,375,863kilowatthours(kWh) ofelectricity($1,911,307savings),5,248,397tonhoursofchilled water($681,730savings),and109,467thermsofnaturalgas($79,505 savings) through on-going commissioning, automation management, andcapitalreplacement; • reduced93,783,952kWhofelectricity($19,194,872savings), 27,955,020tonhoursofchilledwater($3,433,292savings)and 497,913thermsofnaturalgas($399,034savings)whilereducing sourceenergyby36.3percentfromthe2005-06baseline; • produced27,430,110kWhofenergy.Yieldingasavingsof $1,582,563,whileavoiding2356metrictonsofcarbondioxideand 148metrictonsofsulfuroxideemissions; • avoided$68,000incontractorfeesbyself-performingcommissioning activitiesonminorHVACrenovationsandnewconstructionprojects; and • avoided$90,000insoftcostsbyretrofittingbuildingautomation controls(BAS)in-house.

Business Services • re-designedtheUCFIDCard. Thedesign,votedonbystudents, nowoffersaveterandesignation; • contributed$1milliontowardthe KnightsPlazaEnhancementProject; • generatedarelationshipwithlocal comicbookartists,resultingin morethan$30,000insales;and • addedover365Toshibaand Lexmarkcopymachinesacross main and regional campus locations.

Parking and Transportation Services • transported1.9millionstudentsonUCF’ssustainableshuttleservice; • directorservedaspresidentoftheFloridaParkingAssociation,oneof thelargeststateorganizationofitskindinthecountry;and • assistedwithtrafficcontrolandvehicleparkingfor242specialevents held on campus.

Resource Management • processed$408,002,374inpostageforuniversitydepartments,with 1,037,770millioninboundand515,470outboundpostalitems;and • purchasedandissuedmorethan$2.9millioninpartsandmaterialsto operational departments.

The CFE Arenahostedsixshowsin2016thatwereover90percentsold–Tool,HillsongUNITED,KattWilliams,Pentatonix,AmySchumer,andCountryStrong.

UCFCCcompletedrepaintingtheexteriorofeightofthenineKnightsPlazastructures,includingTowers1through4,parkingGaragesE,F,andG,andretailbuilding137.

University Police • achievedre-accreditationbytheFloridaLawEnforcementAccreditation (FLA-PAC);and • receivedmultipleawardsforexcellence,DUIenforcement,andthe preventionofunderagedrinkingattheMADDBanquet.

Utilities and Energy Service • renegotiatedUCF’snaturalgassupplycontract,reducingnaturalgas costtoUCF’smaincampusby12percent,aprojectedsavingsof $175,000annually; • supportedUCF’sClimateActionPlanbypurchasing6,658 megawatt-hoursofrenewableenergycreditstosupportcampus expansionprojects; • processed656indoorairqualityworkorderswithaclosingtimeof fewerthanoneday,andfewerthan2hoursinthefield; • saved$175,000andexperienceda12percentreductionintotalcost NaturalGasRateSavingsformultipleaccountsconvertedfrom purchasedgasaccountratestoderegulatedratestructures; • saved$12,392bygenerating131,400kWh’sinrenewableenergy throughGarageB’s107kWDCphotovoltaicsystem;and • renovatedsixbuildingswithbuildingautomation,controlanddistribution systems,increasingbuildingcomfortandreliability.
