Football Tournament

Jaicob, Piers, Kit, Oskar, Elijah and George took part in a year 3 & 4 five a side football tournament on Monday 29th February 2016. The competition was at Kineton High School and many primary schools particapted. The boys played superbly and showed great team work to reach the semi final where they faced Henley Primary who they beat 2-0 to reach the final against Shipston Primary. Earlier in the evening they drew 1-1 with Shipston but in the final we couldn’t get a goal past them and sadly lost 1-0 to finish runners up.

World Book Day

Thank you to ALL of our parents for their support and effort that clearly went into the costumes for World Book Day. The standard gets better each year and it is a pleasure to see the children as their favourite book characters. In the photo above we have Clark Kent, Billionaire Boy, Spencer the Train, Arthur Dent, Zombie, Mary Poppins, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Man Friday and Beast Quest. In addition to these 9 there were Crocodiles, The Gruffalo, Vikings, Huckleberry Finn, Oliver Twists, a Shark and many more original costumes. On the next page you will find the winners from each class.

World Book Day Winners

The teachers had the unenviable task of choosing a winner from each class

which was extremely difficult especially for Miss Duxbury ! Some of the teachers opted for a democratic class voting system instead where the children voted for their favourite costume. The winners, photographed above, who each received a

small stationery prize from Mr Roberts were : Joseph as Mr Tickle, Dylan as The Fantastic Mr Fox, Lily as Claudine Wolf and Myah as Miss Trunchball.

World Book Day Book Swap

As usual, each child received a book token to celebrate World Book Day. Normally the children would take the tokens to a book shop to exchange it for a free book. This year, we went one better and the books came to the children! In the hall we had the full selection of books available for primary school children and each pupil was able to buy one of the six titles on offer using their token. This was a huge success and we must thank Mrs Prescott for organising this.

High School offer letters went out this week and our year sixes couldn’t be more pleased. Everyone got their first choice of high school; Oliver successfully passed his 11+ and is going to Alcester Grammar and everyone else is going to our outstanding feeder school, St Benedict’s Catholic High School, Alcester. Well done everyone, we are really pleased for you all. On Tuesday 28th June 2016 all of the pupils in year 6 will visit their new schools for transition day (this is the same day we welcome our new reception children into school). The induction evening for the parents of year 6 pupils at St Benedict’s is also on June 28th from 6pm – 8pm. Alcester Grammar School’s parent transition meeting is slightly earlier on Monday 27th June from 6pm – 8pm. Pupils in year 5 may be interested to know Alcester Grammar’s Open Evening is on Tuesday 5th July 2016. St Benedict’s open evening will be in September 2016 but the date is not yet confirmed.
