1 RECOMMENDATIONS USER GUIDE

1.1 Document Purpose

The purpose of this document is to give the reader a general overview over the new recommendations functionality implemented for ADAM v 2.5.

1.2 Recommendations

Following the results of the external evaluation of Phase II of the project, a new functionality has been introduced on the website of the Paris Pact Initiative. The purpose of this new functionality is to follow up with measures taken by Paris Pact partners to implement experts' recommendations formulated at Round Tables and Working Groups. Once they have been endorsed at the yearly Policy Consultative Group Meeting, these recommendations are posted on ADAM and become accessible to all partners for their comments.

A new menu item “PARIS PACT – Recommendations” has been added to the ADAM main menu. With this interactive functionality, all Paris Pact partners are given the opportunity to provide inputs on relevant developments in their country by submitting comments to UNODC. These comments are compiled by the Paris Pact Coordination Unit and evaluated by UNODC experts on a regular basis. After review by UNODC experts, a summary of the received comments will be published in the form of the Current Status of implementation.

After clicking on the menu entry two new options will show up.

A user can

a) view “All Recommendations”

b) search recommendations

The layout of this view is separated as follows:

1) Title of the round table

2) List of recommendations, grouped by thematic area

3) Current Status summarizing the comments submitted by Paris Pact partners.

NOTE: Round tables are sorted by the date inserted descending (newest first). To add a comment to the recommendation, you can either use the link “Add Comment” in All

Recommendations view or alternatively from Recommendations profile view.

1.4 Recommendations profile view

When clicking on the title of the round table (i.e. EXPERT ROUND TABLE FOR EASTERN AFRICA NAIROBI 2008) the below view opens:

The layout of this view is separated as follows:

1) Overview tab for round table

2) Overview tab of Recommendations of round table

3) Comments from partners

4) Current Status summarized by UNODC

5) CONTENT AREA of tab (i.e. Expert Round table content)

1.5 Recommendations tab

When clicking on the Recommendations tab the following view is visible:

The above view shows a list of all recommendations attached to the round table, their status, the countries the recommendation relates to and their respective thematic area. Via “Add comment” partners can insert a new comment for a recommendation. NOTE: The order of recommendations within a round table adheres to the order established at the meeting.

1.6 Add Comment After clicking on “Add Comment” in Recommendations tab the following view is shown:

Information is shown to which Round Table and to which particular Recommendation the comment will be added. After the comment has been written in the text area a user can either “Submit to UNODC” directly or “Save As Draft” for later use, coming back to it via the edit function to refine it as described below.

1.7 Comments tab When clicking on the Comments tab the following view is visible:

In this view the user can see a list of comments related to recommendations. Furthermore, it is possible to edit a comment previously submitted with the Edit Comment button. The status of the comment indicates if a comment has already been submitted to UNODC or is still in draft status. NOTE: A user can only view his/her own comments. Comments of all partners are only accessible to the Paris Pact Coordination Unit and will be summarized regularly in form of the Current Status. Comments are sorted by date submitted/edited descending (newest first).

1.8 Current Status tab When clicking on the Current Status tab the following view is visible:

This view provides an overview of the published summaries of all comments received to a particular recommendation.

1.9 Search Recommendations

When clicking on “Search Recommendations” in the main menu the following view opens:

1) Here the user can select search options as required.
