With no ports for the ship to anchor, the men’s task was to bring ashore the ship’s cargo of foodstuffs and clothing. The stevedoring service Dulsco launched then is still one of many services it continues to provide to this day. In fact, Dulsco is the oldest stevedoring company in the region. In the 1950s, Shaikh Saeed Al Maktoum gave Dulsco exclusive rights to provide stevedoring services at the Dubai Port. The company expanded into manpower supply after the formation of the UAE.
