Greetings from OISJ!
The yuletide season has
ushered in a lot of festivities.
Along with academic success
in Olympiad and spell bee we
have many events planned up
in the last calendar month.
The Annual concert was organized in a
spectacular manner .The maiden
overnight trip to Chikamaglur was a
successful one.
It gives me immense joy to announce
the launch of OCFP and OPSP.
Orchids career foundation program
aims at providing expert coaching to
students by IITians.
OPSP is a programme that takes the
sports coaching to a higher level .
Students will be coached by
professional football coaches.

Grammar made fun !
Pronouns can be learnt in an
interesting way. A fun activity
involved all the students in making
learning a fun filled one. The
students were asked to paste a
family photograph in their
notebooks, and describe the
persons using pronouns.
In another activity ,students of
grade 2 prepared Nayi Gullak and
learnt its uses . It was a Hindi
activity.
The little stars of Orchids
continued the winning spree
by adding glittering feathers
on the prestigious cap of
laurels.
Manas B Nair has qualified
for the second level in NSO
exam .
C.K . Pranav, II A ,won the
first prize in skating in
OXELO competition.
Aashish , IB secured the
second place in Skating in
OXELO competition.
The newspaper is used as
a tool for learning language.
An activity was conducted
for grade V students where
they used adjectives to
describe a picture from the
NIE paper.
A science chart making
activity was conducted for
grade IV students. They
made a chart on Excretory
system using cotton and
straws.
The Annual concert of
OISJ showcased the
inherent talent of the
students . The theme was
‘Tryst with Destiny’ which
presented the Indian
Independence struggle.
The entire struggle,
beginning from the first war
of Independence
till the time we were
free from the clutches
of British and gained
‘poorna swaraj’, was
portrayed in the concert.
A language activity was
conducted in grade V, in which
students distinguished the
verbs of a kind in different
colours.
Students of grade VII gave a
group presentation on
Monuments of India.
The students of grade VIII
Observed various cells under
the microscope and
differentiated between the plant
and animal cell.
The students of grade 3
presented a role play of the
novel in their literature class.
Students were allotted portions
of the novel and participated
enthusiastically.
The GANIT week was
celebrated in the third week
of December ,in memory of
the great Indian
mathematician , Ramanujan.
An inter house math quiz
was conducted in each
grade and points were
awarded to the houses.

school assembly on
Demonetization .

EVENTS
FIELD TRIP
An educational trip was
organized for the
students of grades V –
IX, to Chikmaglur.
This region is rich in
cultural history and
historical monuments .
It also reflects the
secularism and tolerance
of our country.
Green day and Yellow day
were celebrated by Pre-
Primary children to re-inforce
the concept about colours in
the toddler’s minds.
Classrooms were decorated and children were asked to come in attire of same colour. Children enjoyed the celebration and had lots of fun.

CELEBRATIONSYuletide brought along alot of festivity and cheer at OISJ. Students of preprimary presented a skit, carol were sung by teachers on the eve of Christmas vacations.Santa distributed sweets
and everyone was delighted.

students of K2 were given
cut outs of circles. They
had to print their finger
prints to make colourful

The students of nursery
grade created a bunch
of grapes by cotton
dabbing
TRANS PORT DAY
Transport day was celebrated
to create awareness in children
about basic traffic rules.
Teachers of P-N and Nursery
had prepared models of
different modes of transport and
explained children about the
variety of vehicles, such as
cars, trucks, trains, planes, and
boats. The children were
encouraged to take a
transportation walk around the
exhibit.

To gain practical
knowledge and
strengthen the concept,
K1 children created
Season-Booth .Teachers

of particular season and
few children were trained
