FLEXIBLE MOULDINGS

EL & EL Wood Products Corporation manufactures on itspremises, Valuflex Flexible Mouldings—the highest qualityurethane available in today's market.

Most products in our catalog are available in FlexibleMoulding. Custom profiles are available and made to order, upon request.

EXPECT : 1) Better Lead Times2) Better Pattern Matches3) A Better Product

GENERAL INFORMATION :Valuflex is a urethane resin and can be used formost interior or exterior profiles.

TO PAINT :1) Fill and sand, like wood, using a filler that will adhere to

an oil based man-made product.2) If using water based Latex paint, proceed as you would

with any paintable product. If you are using an oil basedpaint, apply 2 base coats of Latex Enamel (water based)paint as an underbody. Do not use primer as anunderbody when using oil based paint. Use a water bornenamel paint as a primer. This will ensure proper dryingof the oil based paint by providing a seal between theurethane and the oil based paint.

3) Apply Latex Enamel or Oil Based Enamel, like thestraight mouldings, and finish the same.

TO STAIN :1) Finish and sand, like wood, using a filler that matches

stain color and will adhere to an oil based man-madeproduct.

2) Apply a pre-packaged “Base Coat Latex Glazing Fluid.”Many manufactures offer these specific finishes for thispurpose. After applying, wipe gently with a clean cloth.Re-apply stain as many times as needed to develop depthof color.

3) After the glaze has been wiped to the desiredappearance, it must be allowed to dry and then sealedwith the same top coat being used on the wood.

4) We strongly recommend that first time users practice on apiece of scrap flex moulding before finishing themoulding being used on the job.

WARRANTY:Valuflex has a Limited 2 Year Warranty against cracking orsplitting and is the highest quality urethane flex available.

Staining Flex, whether by a professional or not, can achieve a color match to the stained wood.

When a perfect match is a must, use ValuFlex by EL & EL Wood Products.

VALUFLEX™ FLEXIBLE MOULDINGS

HOW TO ORDER CURVED MOULDINGS:Use part number of desired pattern, the species and add an "F" for Valuflex.

I. Casings

A. On true half-circles, order by radius (equals 1/2 of diameter) or by diameter. Please state "Radius" or "Diameter" when ordering.

B. When ordering arches, please state "span and rise" (ie: 21" span x 6" rise)C. Ellipses always require a template.

II. CrownsA. Does the wall curve inside (concave) or outside (convex)?B. Radius of wall - ISR (inside radius), OSR (outside radius).C. Length of moulding needed (add for waste) to cover entire area.D. How many pieces.

III. Crown Built UpsA. Order as ISR (Concave) or OSR (Convex) radius.B. Any moulding used on the wall: order as straight.C. Any moulding used on the ceiling: order as a radius.

1. On an OSR (outside radius), you must add the projection of thecrown to the ceiling moulding radius. Example: If using the 330MULon a ceiling with the 410MUL crown which has a projection of 4-1/2”and the wall is a 60” radius, 330MUL should be ordered as a64-1/2” radius.

2. On an ISR (inside radius), you must subtract the projection of thecrown from the radius, therefore a wall with a 60” radius less the4-1/2” projection = 55-1/2” ISR for the 330MUL.

IV. BasesA. If Base is being used as Baseboard or as part of a Crown detail on a wall, the Flex

Base does not need to be pre-cast to any radius. They are sold as straightsand only total lineal footage is needed.

B. If Baseboards are used as Casing the base must be ordered to the radius(like section I). If base is being used as part of a Crown detail where theylay flat on the ceiling (not on the wall), then information as indicated insection III C1 or C2 must be provided.

V. Panel Moulds or Lineal MouldsA. If used horizontally on curved walls, straight lengths will work.

VI. BackbandsA. Radius on main casing that backband is to attach to.B. Type of curve (arch, ellipse, half-circle and information

under Casings)C. Moulding part numbers, species, length, and count.

Oak mantels are made of clear red oak andideal for staining. Embossed/Carved mantels are made from clear poplar. Please view the different woods withthe different finish options listed.

Painting:Step 1 – Choose the color of paint you wish to use.Step 2 – It’s a good idea to test your paint color on the backside, prior to starting.Step 3 – Install the mantel.Step 4 – Fill all nail holes with putty or painters caulk.Step 5 – Prime the mantel before you paint (Kilz is recommended). Use either latex or oil base paint.Step 6 – Paint the mantel.Step 7 – If necessary, paint the mantel or shelf a second time.

Staining:Step 1 – Choose the stain finish you wish to use (Minwax is recommended).Step 2 – It is recommended that you brush a small portion of the back with the stain finish and let it dry to make
