Page 8: Accelerating Learning Addressing the Needs of All Students

What are you presently doing to support all students with meeting or

exceeding grade-level standards?1s: What are some approaches you’re currently using?

2s: What do all the approaches have in common?

Differentiated Assignments

Page 20

MORE CHALLENGE IS NOT:

• More problems to solve• More pages to write• Longer tasks

Differentiated Assignments

Page 20

More CHALLENGE is about increasing the complexity.

All variations should lead to the same standards and the same LEQ

• Use a geoboard to determine the dimensions of a rectangle that would give the most area for a given perimeter.

• Determine the dimensions of a rectangle that would give the most area for a given perimeter.

• Determine the shape that would provide the greatest area for a given perimeter.

LEQ: What makes the Hero’s Journey so universally appealing?

In celebration of the Fall 2014 release of George Lucas’ latest Star Wars film, Star Wars Episode VII, the Daily Times is holding a contest for Delmarva students only, to see who can write the next, great Hero’s Journey. Use the Hero’s Journey timeline handout, as well as the article from George Lucas entitled, “Hitmaker,” to complete the task. Be sure to include each task of the Hero’s Journey within your story.

How would you make this

a “Tiered Assignment?”
