15 February 2019 Dear Parents, The Spring Term is always a compact and concentrated term and as such we find ourselves at Half Term already. Girls and boys have been sitting exams and had interviews for their next schools during the course of this half of term and many of the results are coming in today. I hope to be able to share these with you after Half Term, but initial outcomes are excellent once again. Academic rigour and an enquiring mind are what we aim to nurture in all our pupils but as you well know that is not where we stop. The opportunities in sport and the arts are vital in helping to create a fully rounded child. This term every pupil in Main School, encompassing four year groups, has represented the school in at least one sports fixture and earlier this week every pupil in Upper Kappa and Upper Delta took part in a Drama Showcase on the theme of “The Circus of Poems”. These evenings were very well attended and the boys and girls certainly responded to the support they received from the audience. It is always remarkable to see what these children, who are still only seven or eight years old, are able to achieve when given just a little encouragement. There will be more drama at the end of term when the boys in the Lower Sixth will be presenting their musical Madagascar. Your support for all the events at Founders’ Hall is very much appreciated. Our Mufti Day collection today has been for Winston’s Wish. Thank you for all your donations I know they will be gratefully received. In Hans Place it was the turn of the girls in Lower Transitus to run the cake sale. As you can see it was as popular as ever, both for those making and selling the cakes as for those consuming them. The first week back after Half Term is as busy as ever with Parents’ Evenings for Lower School and Lower Transitus, Clarinet & Saxophone Showcase on Thursday 28 February and a full set of sports fixtures and the first group of Upper Senior School boys will be off to ski in Switzerland.
