“I am tired of heavy burdens,” wrote an Adventist World Radio listener in Asia. “Life seems very hard, and my temper is always bad. However, since the day I found your program, I have felt better. Now I believe the Lord exists and is directing my ways.” God is using AWR’s broadcasts - on shortwave, AM/FM, podcasts, social media, and more - to carry His peace and comfort directly into people’s homes and hearts. We invite you today to partner with AWR in this vital ministry. [Mark your offering envelope “AWR,” or give directly at awr.org or 800-337-4297.]

ANNOUNCEMENTS SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING! The recent events in Florida remind us once again that all of us are vulnerable, and that schools and churches are not exempt. If you see something that does not look just right to you, take a moment and say something to a deacon, and they will follow up. Your awareness could save a life. Church Assessment - We need your help with a church assessment. We are always looking to improve in different areas of our church and could use your feedback. You may access the assessment by visiting the following website: http://bit.ly/GYCarmSDA Fellowship Luncheons - are now on the church website www.carmsda.org Click Calendar and then the Sabbath date and the sponsors and “What to Bring” are shown. The calendar and luncheons can also be found on the Carmichael Church App. Looking for a kindergarten program for 2018/2019? Check out Sacramento Adventist Academy. Solitude & Simplicity

1. Discussion of sermon on Hunger (chapters9-10): a. What did you appreciate from Caleb’s sermon? b. Do you agree that solitude/silence is necessary

because it “gives us an opportunity to hear God’s voice, that is otherwise squelched in our hectic lives”?

c. Which of the following benefits of solitude that Dybdahl lists do you think our society needs most? i. Remind us how we use words and actions to

defend ourselves and influence others. ii. Allow needs, past wounds, and fears to

surface. iii. Create space for God to speak and act.

2. Matthew 6:5-6 a. What does Jesus say will happen to us if we

choose to prioritize time alone with God?

3. Application: a. How might you create space in your life that is

unhurried and open for God to speak to you?

4. Prayer: a. Ask God when would be the best time to dedicate

to spending time with Him; just the two of you?
