ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Mechanical Engineering possesses good infrastructural facilities,
12-equipped laboratories, 23 highly qualified and dedicated teaching faculties, 10 experienced
Lab technicians and the atmosphere conducive for research activities. Out of 22 teaching
faculties 4 of them have completed their PhD and 11 faculties are pursuing their Ph.D.
Mechanical Engineering includes design, development, manufacture, management, and control
of engineering systems, subsystems, and their components. Typically, manufacturing, power,
aerospace, automotive, materials, and processing industries employ Mechanical Engineers. As a
result of the recent rapid expansion of technology, Mechanical Engineers also have become
increasingly involved in computer aided design and visualization; robotics; bioengineering;
environmental engineering; solar, wind, ocean energy sources and space exploration.

Through the Excellence of its People, the Department of Mechanical Engineering will be
recognized as a leader in providing well qualified engineers who are innovative, immediate
contributors to their profession and successful in advanced studies in their respective fields.
MISSION
The Mechanical Engineering programme makes available a high quality, relevant Engineering
education to the students with a set of skills, knowledge and attitudes that will permit its
graduates to succeed and thrive as Engineers and Leaders.

Anna University Sponsored FDTP on Automobile Engineering
The Department of Mechanical
Engineering has organized a seven days Faculty
Development Training Programme during winter
vacation 2014 on “Automobile Engineering” from
December 15, 2014 to December 21, 2014.
The programme was inaugurated by
Dr .P.V.Mohanram, Principal, PSG Institute of
Technology and Applied Research, Coimbatore on
December 15, 2014. Eminent personalities like Dr.S.Krishnakumar, Senior Technical officer,
DRDO, Chennai, Dr.Muthukumaran, Department of Bio-Technology, Government College of
Technology, Coimbatore, Dr.M.Subramanian, Associate Professor, Department of Automobile
Engineering, PSG College of Technology, Prof.S.Sivakumar, Associate Professor, Department
of Automobile Engineering, Kumaraguru College of Technology delivered lectures during the
Programme.
National Conference on RADAIS2k15
The Department of Mechanical
Engineering has organized a National
Conference on Recent Advancements in
Design, Automation and Intelligent Systems
(RADAIS-2k15) on 27.03.15. The conference
was inaugurated by the honorable chief guests
Dr. Nithyanandan Devaraaj, Foundry Products
Divison, Larson & Toubro, Coimbatore and Mr. D. Rajaji, Director, COINDIA, Coimbatore at
9.30 am and delivered the inaugural address on the function. Dr. V. S. Sreebalaji, Professor and
Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, welcomed the gathering. Dr. K. Kalaiselvan,
Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering has presented the conference theme. The
beloved secretary Dr. Thavamani D. Palaniswami, Dr. NGP Institute of Technology has

delivered the presidential address. The felicitation address was given by Dr.C.Kailasam, Director
of Maths Dept., and Dr. NGP Institute of Technology. Nearly 130 delegates from various
institutions of different regions were participated in the conference and presented their papers.
The vote of thanks was given by Dr. K. Ravikumar, Associate Professor and Department of
Mechanical Engineering.
YRC-Blood Donation Camp
Blood donation camp was organized by Youth Red
cross of Dr.NGP Institute of Technology in association
with Lions club of Coimbatore Elite and Coimbatore
Medical College Hospital on 10.02.2015. Dr.NGPIT
faculty members and students were actively participated
and donated the
blood in this event.

Dr.NGPIT team “KART RIDE LINERS”,

Championship held in Lovely Professional
University, Punjab from 27.03.2015 to
30.03.2015. The team has participated in Static & Dynamic events with their In-house-
fabricated Gokart Vehicle. Our College has secured 16th
place out of 69 teams

INTERNSHIPS AND FACTORY VISITS
S.Venkatesan, Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering, participated Winter
Internship Program on Nanomaterials organized by the Department of Nanotechnology,
Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore from December 15th – 19th, 2014.
Second year B.E. Mechanical Engineering - A students has been visited the EKKI

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Mr.R.Vigneshwar - III Year Mechanical „B‟ won the first prize
and received a cash prize of Rs.7000/- out of 380 participants in
the CAD contest held at Dr.NGP IT , CAD LAB on 13/4/15
which is evaluated by senior Technical Engineer - LMW.
23 Projects were completed by IV Year Mechanical
Engineering Students in their Final Project work.
45 Mini projects were completed by III Year Mechanical
Engineering Students in their Design and Fabrication Project.
