molo, based in Vancouver, Canada, is a design and production studio dedicated to an explo ration o space making incombination with experiments in manuacturing, materials and structure. The molo studio explores the overlapping realms o

art, architecture and design, and creates unique designs in a variety o scales, rom tea set to museum, or clients around the world.

experience o a space. Forsythe + MacAllen work back and orth between the intimate scale o urniture

and small uti l i tar ian objects, to the larger scale o bui ldings and landscapes. Working at a urniture scale

heightens the sense o human scale and physical exper ience in architecture. Conversely, urni ture andproduct design beneit rom the perspective o thinking in the larger context o place and space making.

Hands-on making has always been undamental to Forsythe + MacAllen’s design process, and is an integral part o

their ongoing journey. Ideas pass rom mind to hands to material and back again. molo’s design process has developed

to include experimentation with actory production, with desigers working in close collaboration with manuacturers.

Th is way o work ing leads to happy accidents and discover ies that insp ire design improv isation and innovation.

molo’s award winning sot collection o exible walls, building blocks, seating and lighting exemplifes their production

processes and space making. Recognized or poetic beauty and pragmatic inventiveness, sotwall and sotseating have been

acquired by the Museum o Modern Art in New York or their permanent collection. In 2005, molo and the so t concepts were

selected as a winner o the Danish INDEX Award. The sot collection is continually evolving with new products and possibilities.

Forsythe + MacAllen began work ing together in 1994 at Architecture school. Constructing a number o houses

and smaller scale objects, Forsythe + MacAllen won several international competitions or architecture, urniture

and conceptual ideas (www.orsythe-macallen.com) which have become the oundation or the molo studio.

molo was ormed in 2003 to put the urniture scale work designed by Forsythe + MacAllen into production. molo has

evolved to become a collaborative design and production studio o 18 people. In addition, molo has an extended amily

o specialized manuacturers that they continuously work with in a beautiul endeavor to bring imagination to ruition.
