ABOUT CELOP
Established in 1975, the Center for English Language and Orientation Programs (CELOP) is one of the top institutions in the U.S. dedicated to helping students and professionals improve their English and understand American culture.
Accredited by CEA, the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation, CELOP offers more than a dozen academic and pre-professional programs to hundreds of students every year. CELOP students are Boston University students and have access to the resources and facilities of one of the top universities in the U.S.
The CELOP student body includes aspiring university students, high school students and professionals, and represented 50 countries in 2017. CELOP students have achieved success in a wide range of fields and have included researchers, CEO’s, diplomats, military leaders, and entertainment stars. Students seeking university admission have been accepted by 22 of the Top 50 national universities as ranked by U.S. News and World Report since 2012.

has prepared students admitted to the following MBA programs: Boston University, Harvard University, MIT, Northeastern University, Babson College

Program Features• Review typical case studies and articles covered in MBA programs• Visit Boston-area businesses and government offices• Attend guest lectures from business professionals• Practice the skills needed to succeed in an MBA program (i.e. case discussions, team
meetings and projects, oral presentations, notetaking, identifying critical material)• Receive MBA-focused university admissions advising
CurriculumThe program consists of 3, 2-week modules:• Module 1: Business Context• Module 2: Managing Knowledge & Learning• Module 3: Competition & Market Forces
Students may take all three modules for a 6-week program. This Program Is For• Students interested in developing English language skills for business
and entrepreneurship• Students who want to experience the innovative start-up environment of Boston
Program Features• Visit Boston-area innovation centers like the Cambridge Innovation Center and Boston
University’s BUzz Lab• Experience the Babson College Summer Venture Showcase, where local students
pitch their ideas to possible investors• Learn from guest speakers connected to innovative businesses• Present a new program or service concept as part of a Capstone Project• Develop language skills to present a 1-minute elevator pitch for a new company
Curriculum• Business Study: Learn about business concepts (i.e. researching markets and
competitors, developing and presenting a SWOT analysis, preparing an elevator pitch).• Language Study: Develop business language and communication skills (i.e.
collaborative brainstorming, presenting and selling a product or service, expressing and defending your ideas).

PRE-LLM PROGRAM
This Program Is For• Students admitted to an LLM program at a U.S. university who want to develop the
legal knowledge, language skills and confidence to succeed in their program. CELOP has prepared students admitted to the following LLM programs: Harvard University, Boston University, Columbia University, University of California Los Angeles
Program Features• Develop the English language skills and legal knowledge needed to be successful in an
American law school• Attend classes on the Boston University Charles River Campus• Participate in seminars provided by law faculty and practicing lawyers• Tour the Boston State or Federal Courthouse and meet a Court Judge or Judge Magistrate• Gain firsthand experience of the United States legal system: participate in a moot
court exercise and observe federal court proceedings (i.e. civil and criminal trials)
CurriculumThis program combines (1) lectures by law professionals and (2) extensive practice of the legal English used in U.S. LLM programs.• Legal Study: Understand the U.S. legal system, and investigate the governmental,
economic, historical and sociological environment in which it functions.• Language Focus: Practice the language skills essential to the effective use of written
and spoken legal English (i.e. legal vocabulary, oral and written argumentation, public speaking).
