ABDOMINAL POSITIONING

Evaluation Crite-ria
AP supine (KUB) 70-80 - bowel obstruction , neo-plasms , calcifications and ascitis , radiopaque FB and to asses the in-trabdominal lines and catheters.
at the level of the iliac crest.
the image should include the upper bor-der of the pubic symphysis to the diaphragm.The posterior ribs + posterior border of the iliac crest should be superim-posed.
AP erect 70-80 Air-fluid level , accumula-tion of air under the di-aphragm
Top of the IR at the level of the axilla and CP 5 cm above the iliac crest.
PA prone 70-80 - bowel obstruction , neo-plasms , calcifications and ascitis

lateral 80-90 soft tissue masses , um-bilical hernia , paraverte-bral area for possible aneurysms of aorta or calcifications

Lateral decubitus 70-80 -masses , air fluid levels , possible accumulation of intraperitoneal air (patient should be on his side for minimum of 5 minutes.
5cm above the il-iac crest.

Dorsal decubitus (R/L ) lateral
70-80 -masses , AF , aneurysms of the wall of artery or veins. Calcifica-tions of the aorta , umbili-cal hernia .

the vertebral col-umn should be in the middle.The ribs , pelvis and hips should be equidis-tant to the edge of the radiograph.
