Turn back to the masthead. Now, find the listed names and compliment them on the amazing work they did. Congratulations on your “Emeline-less” Anong Balita my wonderful committee! It looks fantastic, and I’m so proud of you all.

Being PR this year has been amazing. Receiving compliments is a foreign feeling to me, but I repeatedly got support and “good jobs.” Most of these stem from my work on the Anong Balita. Yes, that was a mission for me, to bring it back and do well for the members and such…but to be honest there have been quite a few people that have gone unnoticed and didn’t get to bask in all the glory that is Volume 32 of the Anong Balita.

The Anong Balita Committee. Writers. Designers. Moral supporters. I can’t thank you all enough for everything you’ve done this year. Working on the first 2 issues myself, I can tell you, it would have been hell to do all the issues alone. I can’t even fathom pulling through this year without all of your help. From predecessors, I heard that I’d have to nag to get stories and layouts, but not once did I get frus-trated or upset with any of you. I hope you had as much fun as I did this year, and I hope you take your experiences with this small production and apply it to some real world situations! I couldn’t ask for a better mini family than you. I hope you know I love each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much for your hard work. I hope your blankets provide you with adequate warmth. Re-member, everytime you’re hugging your blanket, you’re hugging me! And you know how rare those are, haha.

Steez-E-Board. You were all unknowingly on the committee. Even if you would sit there to troll or try to run away from me when I asked if you could write something for me or if you walked into the meeting and immediately left, you were very important to the success. Dillon, I want to single you out because without you, the Anong Balita would have been blocks and blocks of text. I was fortunate to have you as a historian and constant support. Thank you to the chairs for constantly updating me, writing for me, and just being involved. Thank you to the ones who gave input. Thank you to all of you because when I started to doubt myself you never let me give up. Shea, Kevin, Danielle, Luigi, Bryan, Carl, Andrew, Jher-ray, Aina, Nj, Rizza, Dillon…you are the best friends I’ve ever had. LAV you!

To the members. It’s one thing to work for an organization you believe in. It’s another thing to work for a group of people you love. Thank you for making my year that much more meaningful. Honestly, I’d do it all over again for you all. Thanks for reading!

To my successor. I know I said Anong Balita is optional. But...C’mon :)

What board(s) were you on? What year(s)? “Sex-E-Board” 2005-2006 (the originators of naming the E-boards)What position(s)? Public Relations and Editor-In-Chief of Anong Balita that year. I would say I’m the originator of Anong Balita because all the years before it was a piece of papers. I started the new fangled page-turner Anong Balita with Anne Soliguen and created a committee of it. What made you want to run for board? It was initially the high involvement in Filipino culture and seeing a lot of Filipinos in one place at the same time. It was cool being in an entourage of the people that you can relate to. It’s a lot of fun in that aspect, but if it all comes down to it. I’m into Asian chicks...I went to a Pomona grade school prior and I was highly exposed to Mexican classmates. This was a Candyland despite the infamous Barkada ratio. I don't think any Barkada guy can deny girls were a factor to being part of the club. Barkada drama and E-board drama involve many relationships. Indirectly, they don't realize but that's what they signed up for. I can have friends, fun, and knowing my background, yes I did learn a spoonish full of that, but being around girls was denitely a catalyst. What did you learn from it and how has it helped you today? I've learned a lot from culture but nothing much really sticks than getting with my girlfriend, Fallon Roxas, former vice president E-board 2006, she's taught me balance in life, the essential things I want to become, ambition, and the real things that are important. If you want to learn something in Barkada, nd your better half. If all that culture, PCN, and activities were what you really signed up for, then to each its own.

What board(s) were you on? What year(s)? “Cute-E-Board” 2007-2008What position(s)? Barkada Entertainment Company (BEC) CoordinatorWhat made you want to run for board? The members. Barkada wouldn't be how it is today if it wasn't for the members. It's the members that shape the club-- past, present, and future. Specically, I ran because I witnessed so much talent in each of the members. I felt that someone had to nd a way to showcase them. Creating Barkada's Got Talent! wasn't my rst goal, but, instead, it was to strengthen the four pillars of Barkada Entertainment Company: Barkada Modern, P.Notes, Cultural Dance Troupe, and Barkada Band. That was the year when B.Mod started competing, Barkada Band was established, CDT taught a Piipino dance class in CPP, and P.Notes led individually. It was a great year, but if it wasn't for the members, I wouldn't have remained determined and ambitious. What did you learn from it and how has it helped you today? Being on executive board helped me become a better leader, a better mentor, a better individual, and, most of all, a better Pilipino-American. I've learned to channel my passion and ambition into a positive product and learned to always remember that I'm surrounded by amazing & positive people.

What board(s) were you on? What year(s)?"Babe-E-Board" 2006-2007, "Cute-E-Board" 2007-2008What position(s)? Public Relations for Babe-E-Board, Vice President for Cute-E-BoardWhat made you want to run for board?During my sophomore year, I was actually part of the sta that resurrected the Anong Balita! =D (It's like my baby, which is why I'm so utterly impressed with Emeline's achieve-ment with it this year!) I was layout editor and really became involved and interested in the promotion aspect of the club. I loved being able to have a creative output to share what I loved about the club with the current members and potential members. I initially had no intention of running for Vice President the following year, but I saw a potential for improvement and felt the need to continue giving back. I've always thought Anong Balita was a great way for members to become involved and share their experiences and ideas with the club. The members are the future leaders of the club and I knew being Vice Presi-dent would continue to allow me to in turn, provide the members with their own creative output through A-Board. :)What did you learn from it and how has it helped you today?I learned leadership skills, event planning, dedication, and responsibility with being on E-Board. You can't get experience and skills like that without involving yourself in extracur-ricular activities to make yourself a well-rounded person. It's helped me after college to use those skills in the work environment and even in post-college classes. Whatever you learn in the classroom and in Barkada, you may not think it's important at the moment, but you can always nd a way to use it to your advantage in the future. I think one of the most important things I learned from Barkada though, was about my Filipino culture and heritage..."He who does not know how to look back at where he came from, will never get to his destination,"...wise words from Filipino hero, Jose Rizal. I grew up completely igno-rant and oblivious of the importance of embracing where you came from, and I believe knowing that helps you feel a little less lost in this world. :)

If it wasn't for the OG Vaginas from Babe-E-Board (my Ate Jowee and Mama Joy) I probably wouldn't have taken on the position. Major plus of that position was the opportunity to meet a lot of new people all over Southern California. What did you learn from it and how has it helped you today?I've really learned the denition of time management and teamwork and couldn't be more blessed to be a part of this board. They've become lifelong friends so who you work with could potentially be people in your wedding, the Ninongs and Ninangs of your children, can be that extra push you need to get that job with a recommendation letter, anything really!!

I believe in Culture Chair and running for E-board because I believe that I can make a dierence. I'm running because after I graduate, we know what happens next. We know what we want to become. However, that shouldn't be it. We shouldn't limit ourselves and that's why I commend the candidates I'm running against because they know that there's something to do. Sports Chair, Vice PresidentWhat made you want to run for board? I wanted to run for E-Board because like many, I felt like it was the best way for me to give back to Barkada. I had only been in Barkada for one year, but during that time span, I was inspired by board members at the time to want to do more than just be a member. I often found myself going to every event, volunteering to help out whenever I had the chance, and taking roles I never would have before I joined Barkada. I wanted to inspire members the same way I was inspired, and becoming an E-Board member was the best way I could do that. What did you learn from it and how has it helped you today?I learned a lot from being on E-Board. Obviously, with college being the rst priority, I eventually had to learn how to better manage my time. Being organized can be a key to become successful, and its something that has helped me with my achievements today. But most importantly, I learned how to become a leader. Having a board posi-tion didn't just mean doing my duties or planning events. Being a board member meant being a role model, and learning how to inspire others to do more has become a very important part of my life.

What board(s) were you on? What year(s)? “Cute-E-Board” 2007-2008What position(s)? Social ChairWhat made you want to run for board? I denitely wanted to give back to the club. I've had an amazing rst two years of college because of the previous e-boards & the members involved during those years. I wanted the future members of Barkada to experience that as well. I felt like my gateway of making that happen was running for Social Chair. What did you learn from it and how has it helped you today?I've learned the importance of trust and delegation. I've always been one to just take on projects on my own, but with the support and bond I developed with my e-board, I eventually learned to trust them with my own events and projects. Delegation and team-work helped for a lot of successful events.Compromise was another key thing I learned from being on e-board. Working with 12 other personalities and work ethics was dicult to grasp. We weren't a perfect e-board; we had our personal dramas, opinions, and specic visions for the club, but listening to each other's needs & ideas with an open mind was crucial in order to accomplish things successfully. Meeting down the middle was not only a learning experience for me, but for the whole e-board because at the end of day, it was always all about the members. These are only a few out of many things that I've taken with me from being on Barkada's E-board. I apply all the life-skills and professionalism I've learned from that year to my life on a daily basis. Never have I learned so much about myself than I did in that year alone. Running for Barkada's E-board was one of the best things I've ever done.

Sports Chair, President, Social ChairWhat made you want to run for board? I didn't. Someone else made me do it. The evil Andrew Amante. He forced me to run and being helpless, I did. I'm just kidding. It wasn't evil Andrew Amante. It was the wise words and beautiful faces of Barkada. I remember a very meaningful moment during elections when Eric Liu approached me and said, "Oh hey guys!" I was confused because I was the only person standing in front of him, but it made me realize...I should run for board...not once, but 3 times! I'm just kidding again, I don't know. I just felt like doing it. I felt I could make a change and believed my skills could be a big help. It...just looked fun....hahahahabananahahahahahaWhat did you learn from it and how has it helped you today?I learned a lot actually. I mean...I ran a Sports tournament, worked with a team of 12 other people for 3 years, lead 1 of those years as President, found ways to utilize my organiza-tional skills, learned things I never knew about the Pilipino culture, developed plans for events, made new friends, cherish the same friends, had a great time, it was probably the 3 greatest decisions to be on board. It helped me especially with my business persona. I mean everything I do at home such as cleaning or making my girlfriend's anniversary gifts...teehee!, there is always an agenda to it. I always have to write things down, make sure there are no aws, see if I can make it better, Barkada kind of made me this business type of guy. I do it at work and my bosses praise me for this. So yeah, there is denitely one thing I didn't learn was how to write inspirational articles that will inspire Barkada members to run for board...sigh. Special shoutout to the 6 Horsemen :gallop: :gallop:  :gure 6 on hand:, my girlfriend, and all the ne honeys out there! I'm talking about the honey that bees make. TTYL. HAGS. GL!

I learned so much from my time on board, both professionally and life in general. But if I had to narrow it down, I would have to say I learned about myself. Through the experience of E-Board and all the struggles that come with it, you sort of nd yourself in Barkada and what kind of person you truly are.

Secretary, Vice PresidentWhat made you want to run for board?I ran for E-Board because I wanted to do something more for this club than just being on A-Board could do, to be there for the members, helping them throughout the year, to gain close friendships with those on E-Board, and to be a bigger part of everything that makes Barkada one of the best clubs on campus. Just to name a few reasons :)What did you learn from it and how has it helped you today? It was a real eye-opening experience working so closely with 12 other people. Although I do wish I could have been a better leader overall, I learned how to commu-nicate more eectively, better manage my time, and just how a group of people could really change your college career yet never realizing it until it's over. So much love goes out to you, Boogies, Mabuties, fellow A-Board members<3

Running for E-board was a great opportunity to get to know the members and get a better understanding on why Barkada has been an instrumental aspect of everyone's lives. What did you learn from it and how has it helped you today? Words cannot even begin to express the huge amount of lessons I've learned from being on Barkada Executive Board. Not only has it taught me so much about myself and who I am as a person, but it also taught me the value of what REALLY is important in life, and to be appreciative of ALL of life's blessings. Honestly, being on E-board was A LOT of time and work. However, I would not change a thing about my experience. I denitely encourage everyone interested in running for board to go for it! Barkada is a legacy THREE DECADES strong and still counting. It would be a shame to miss out on your chance to be a part of history.

What board(s) were you on? What year(s)? “Boog-E-Board” 2008-2009,“Mabut-E-Board” 2009-2010 “Nast-E-Board” 2010-2011What position(s)? TTYL. HAGS. GL!

Public Relations and Culture ChairWhat made you want to run for board?I guess the reason why I wanted to run for board was because I wanted to give back to the family that had given me so much. Oh, and because I love Barkada hahaWhat did you learn from it and how has it helped you today? Oh jeez, where do I even begin?
