In 1942, Junkers combined features of the previous Ju 88 and the subsequent Ju 288 to create the Ju 188. On the surface, the Ju 188 was merely an improvement on the aging Ju 88’s design; however, it was powered by a more powerful engine (the 1,730 Jumo 213A) and could handle larger bomb loads. Later “A” versions were equipped with the FuG 200 sea-search radar (for recon missions) and torpedo shackles, which proved highly effective for naval strike missions.

❚ This limited edition kit features new torpedo parts and bomb rack components.

❚ Also includes photo-etched parts for the FuG 200 radar and resin nose rod cover parts.

HASEGAWA® 1/72 SCALE HEINKEL HE 111Z-2 LONG-RANGE BOMBERThe Luftwaffe bomber with twice the fi repower.

The design for the Heinkel He 111Z Zwilling combined two standard He 111s to create one virtually unstoppable aircraft. It was powered by fi ve 1,340 hp Jumo 211F engines, which provided an unexpected benefi t. If three of the centrally positioned power plants failed, the He 111Z could fl y on the two remaining engines. The subsequently planned (but never produced) He 111Z-2 required additional Hirth TK 11 superchargers to carry up to four Henschel Hs 293 guided missiles at once. By the time the He 111Z-2 would have been produced in 1944, Germany abandoned the costly production of bomber aircraft.

HASEGAWA® 1/450 SCALE U.S. NAVY BATTLESHIP U.S.S. MISSOURI“Big Mo,” back and better than ever in 1/450 scale.

The U.S.S. Missouri (BB-63) is most famous as the site of Japan’s offi cial surrender to the U.S. in 1945. However, that was just one of many major events in the U.S.S. Missouri’s long, extraordinary service. This Iowa-class battleship – the last one ever completed by the U.S. – aided the Allies by repelling Japanese forces in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. President Truman later dispatched her to South Korea to intervene in the Korean Confl ict. Decommissioned in 1955, the U.S.S. Missouri was reactivated nearly 30 years later. In 1991, she served commendably in the Gulf War, and became a museum ship in 1999.

Did you know?

❚ The U.S.S. Missouri earned three battle stars for WWII service, fi ve battle stars during the Korean War and three battle stars in the Gulf War.

❚ The U.S.S. Missouri has hosted Presidents Harry Truman and George H.W. Bush.

HASEGAWA® 1/450 SCALE ROYAL NAVY BATTLESHIP H.M.S. VANGUARDThe biggest, fastest battleship in the Royal Navy’s fl eet.

Launched in November, 1944, the H.M.S. Vanguard (23) was the biggest, fastest battleship in the Royal Navy’s Fleet. Often regarded as the world’s fi nal completed battleship, her history is just as incredible as her size and speed. While she wasn’t completed in time for WWII, this versatile craft did act as a training ship and a fl agship for the Royal Navy Reserve Fleet. Her guns were not her own – they were recycled from notable WWI and WWII-era ships such as the Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Sovereign. Ironically, these guns were never fi red in combat. After nearly two decades honorably serving her Queen and Country, the H.M.S. Vanguard was sold for scrap in August, 1960.

The ’62 Impala SS was only the second Super Sport model, but it proved that drivers didn’t have to sacrifi ce style for peak performance. Options included a 409 cu. in. V-8 engine and an engine-turned aluminum panel to house the triple taillight assembly. Kit features a detailed 409 cu. in. V-8 with dual carbs, an optional custom air cleaner and fi nned valve covers. Also included are bucket seats, a choice of stock wheels and tires or custom wheels with low-profi le tires, chrome-plated parts and decals with stock and custom graphics.

The Transall C-160 was designed in the early ‘60s to replace France’s aging fl eet of Nord Noratlas transport aircraft. Developed by Aèrospatiale and Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm, the C-160 is powered by twin Rolls-Royce® turboprop engines. Only one accident has ever been reported in over forty years, placing it among history’s safest and most reliable aircraft. The C-160 will be replaced by the Airbus A400M, which is currently undergoing initial tests. A PROUD EDUCATION PARTNER FOR TARC!What once started as a one-time event to celebrate the Centennial

of Flight has now become the world’s largest model rocket contest! Created by the Aerospace Industries Association

(AIA) and National Association of Rocketry (NAR), the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) has been held annually since 2003.

Approximately 7,000 students across the U.S. in grades 7-12 form teams to design, build and launch a model rocket. The rocket must carry an egg payload to a certain altitude for a certain amount

of time, and return with the egg intact. The top 100 qualifying teams will compete in the national fi nals

on May 14, 2011 in Washington, D.C. — with the top 10 teams splitting prizes and scholarships totaling $60,000.

The #1 national team will then move on to international competition!
