The Current State of Affairs

• Approximately 35 members• 5 Active members• Financially Sound: Fund balance as of April 30,

2014: $27,913• Are awarding two $1,000 scholarships in 2014• Participant in the Communities Showcase• Awarded “Entrepreneur of the Year” in years

2008-2013; no nominees in 2014• Have hosted Student Unit members in past

luncheons; no students applied in 2014

In 2013 AAFCS identified numerous challenges that must be resolved in order for it to survive the future. Two of the most critical are:

• Declining membership• Dwindling financial resources

A high priority for affiliates and communities in the updated AAFCS model is for:

Self-forming, organic groups,

addressing a focused topic,

for a limited amount of time,

and that which involves grassroots engagements.
