2.1 Before Going on SiteBefore going on site you must check that the following information and toolsare available:

All Preparation (Section 1.2) are fulfilled

The customer has been informed of the

Personnel are available and ready for operation (refer to Scheduling(Section 1.3)

Site Specific Information (Section 1.2.2) is available and ready for operation

Hardware Tools (Section 1.4.1.1 ) are available and ready for operation

Software Tools (Section 1.4.1.2 ) are available and ready for operation

Applicable Documents (Section 1.4.3) are available and ready for operation.

2.2 Before You Start (On Arrival at the Site)

2.2.1 Checks

Perform the following checks and operations:

Check applicable notifications and operating instructions (refer to the

Catalogue of Technical and Logistic Information (ITL) and the Catalogue ofInstruction Operation (IO))

Check the availability of all necessary tools and supplies

Check that all Preparation (Section 1.2) are fulfilled

Check that all safety precautions have been taken in accordance with thesafety instructions (refer to the BSS Methods Handbook)

Complete the header field of the CCL, noting the type of MFS (see Hardware

Description - Rack Configurations (Section 1.1.1). The CCL is completedas each instruction is carried out.

Check that the resistance of the anti-static wrist strap is greater then

1 Mohm.

2.2.2 Required Knowledge

You must be familiar with the following:

The safety rules and precautions given in the BSS Methods Handbook

How to document faults and anomalies as described in the BSS MethodsHandbook.

2.3 Check Power Supply Redundancy

2.3.1 Connect the IMT to the MFS and Start GPRS Terminal

The IMT cable (cross-connect cable ALETHC with RJ45 connector) must beavailable at main ATCA shelf x, rear side.

Connect the IMT 1. Connect the IMT cable to the JAXSSW1 (position 7 on main ATCA shelfx rear side), port ETH8. Where:

x is 3 for Shelf 3

x is 4 for Shelf 4.

2. Verify that the LED corresponding to the connection port is lit.

Start GPRS Terminal 3. Open Netscape Navigator and enter the following URL in the ’location’ field:

For a remote connection to the MFS: http://x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is theIP address of the MFS, for example: http://139.54.74.200

For a direct connection to the MFS: http://172.17.y.x. This represents

the IP address of the active station.

Where:

x is 3 for STATION_A

x is 4 for STATION_B

y is 3 for Shelf 3

y is 4 for Shelf 4

The IMT software is started and the Terminal Login window opens.

Press [ OK ] to confirm the message.

4. Enter the appropriate user name and password in the ’Name’ and ’Password’fields.

The GPRS Terminal window opens.

2.3.2 Check Power Line Redundancy

2.3.2.1 Check Power Line Redundancy for ATCA ShelvesTo check the power redundancy for ATCA shelves:

1. On the power distribution unit (JSXPDU) disconnect the -48 V DC powersupply lines, as follows:

A3 if ATCA shelf 3 is used

A1 if ATCA shelf 4 is used.If both ATCA shelves are used, A1 and A3 lines must be disconnected.

2. Check that the MFS ATCA shelves remain powered up and the boards arenot affected (check the LED states).

3. Reconnect the -48 V DC power supply lines as follows:

A3 if it was disconnected in the step above

A1 if it was disconnected in the step above.If both ATCA shelves are used, A1 and A3 lines must be connected.

No boards are affected and lines A3 and A1 are connected.

4. On the power distribution unit (JSXPDU) disconnect the two -48 V DC powersupply lines, as follows:

B3 if ATCA shelf 3 is used

B1 if ATCA shelf 4 is used.If both ATCA shelves are used, B1 and B3 lines must be disconnected.

5. Check that the MFS ATCA shelves remain powered up and the boards arenot affected (check the LED states).

6. Reconnect the -48 V DC power supply lines as follows:

B3 if it was disconnected in the step above

B1 if it was disconnected in the step above.If both ATCA shelves are used, B1 and B3 lines must be connected.

No boards are affected and lines B3 and B1 are connected.

2.3.2.2 Check Power Line Redundancy for JSXLIU ShelfTo check the power line redundancy for JSXLIU shelf:

1. On the power distribution unit (JSXPDU), disconnect the -48 V DC powersupply lines, as follows:

A4 if JSXLIU shelf 1 is used

A2 if JSXLIU shelf 2 is used.

2. Check that the boards in JSXLIU shelf remain powered up and are notaffected (The LED on the left JBXPEM front plate is orange).

3. Reconnect the -48 V DC power lines, as follows:A4 or A2, depending onwhich power supply line was disconnected in the step above.

A4 if it was disconnected in the step above

A2 if it was disconnected in the step above.

No boards are affected.

4. On the power distribution unit (JSXPDU), disconnect the -48 V DC powersupply lines, as follows:.

B4 if JSXLIU shelf 1 is used

B2 if JSXLIU shelf 2 is used.

5. Check that the boards in JSXLIU shelf remain powered up and are notaffected (The LED on the right JBXPEM front plate is orange).

6. Reconnect the -48 V DC power supply lines as follows:

B4 if it was disconnected in the step above

B2 if it was disconnected in the step above.

No boards are affected.

2.3.3 Test Converter Board (JBXPS) Redundancy

To check the N+1 redundancy of the JBXPS converters in each ATCA shelf:

1. In each ATCA shelf, switch OFF a JBXPS convertor, wait for thecorresponding alarm to appear in IMT.

2. Check that all JBXOMCP, JBXSSW and JBXGPU blades in the relevantsubrack remain ON.

3. Switch ON the same JBXPS convertor and check that there is no alarmrelated to it.

4. Check that no alarms related to JBXOMCP, JBXSSW and JBXGPU boardsappear.

5. Repeat the steps above for each JBXPS converter.

6. Check that there are no alarms related to the converters (JBXPS) in the“List of Alarms” window.

All ATCA shelf blades are ON.

2.4 Test Control Station (JBXOMCP) SwitchoverUse the following procedures to test the switchover from the active controlstation (JBXOMCP) to the standby control station (JBXOMCP).

2.4.1 Open Site and Physical View Windows

Open Site and Physical View Windows

1. In the main GPRS Terminal window, select:

View -> Site ViewThe Site View window opens.

2. In the main GPRS Terminal window, select:

View -> Physical View -> shelf3/4

The MFS Subrack view windows open for the respective shelves.

Check the Alarms 3. In the main GPRS Terminal window, double-click on [ Main Alarm List ].

The List of Alarms window opens.

4. Note down the active alarms shown in the List of Alarms window.

Check Status of All

Boards

5. Check the status of all equipped boards (JBXSSW, JBXOMCP andJBXGPU) in both shelves.

2.4.2 Test the Switchover

Switchover the Active

Station

To test the control station switchover:

1. In the main GPRS Terminal window select:

Tools -> Switch over

2. Confirm the switchover operation by clicking on [ Yes ].

The GPRS Terminal is disconnected for up to 5 minutes.

The JBXGPU boards are not affected by the operation.

The former active station is restarted.

The restart of the former active control station takes up to 10 minutes.

Connect to the Other

Station

3. Connect to the other station (the station that was in stand-by):

For a remote connection on the floating IP address of the MFS, theGPRS Terminal is disconnected for up to 5 minutes then reconnects to

the second control station, which becomes active.

For a direct connection to the MFS, access the other address in thebrowser http://172.17.y.x

where:

x is 3 for STATION_A

x is 4 for STATION_B

y is 3 for Shelf 3

y is 4 for Shelf 4

4. During switchover check that the JBXGPU boards are not affected by theoperation (the LED states do not change).

5. When the GPRS Terminal has the connection again with the active controlstation, check the status of the JBXGPU boards in the Site View andMFS Subrack view windows.

The status of the JBXGPU boards remains unchanged.

6. Wait for the former active control station to conclude its initialization.

The restart takes up to 10 minutes.

7. Check the status of the JBXGPU, JBXOMCP and JBXSSW boards in theSite View and MFS Subrack view windows.

Also check the active alarms in the Alarm List window.

The status of the JBXGPU boards is unchanged.

The list of active alarms is the same as at the beginning of the operation.

2.5 Test JAXSMM Switchover

For JAXSMM connection, the PC must be configured with an IP in the samedomain with the JAXSMMs.If the local PC is not configured with an IP address like 192.168.y.x, ( x >220,example x=235 ), then you cannot access the JAXSMM board.

y is 3 for Shelf 3

y is 4 for Shelf 4Change the IP address of the local PC and try again.

The two Shelf Manager Cards, located on the ATCA rear side, are numberedas follows: JAXSMM1 is the one from the left and JAXSMM2 is the one fromthe right, near the JBXPSs.

13. Check that there was also a JAXPC switchover.

2.6 Test JBXGPU Switchover

The test is performed for all JBXGPU boards.

To test the JBXGPU switchover for each subrack:

1. In the MFS Subrack view for the first shelf, right click on the first JBXGPUboard ( Slot_1 Physical in the Site View) and select Switch over.After a few seconds, the spare JBXGPU board changes state from idleto busy.

The concerned JBXGPU board starts initialization process.

2. Check that the spare JBXGPU board becomes active (busy).

The JBXGPU has been switched over.

3. Wait for the end of JBXGPU board (Slot_1) initialization, when the boardbecomes idle.

4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 for the rest of JBXGPU boards in the shelf, one by one.

The rest of JBXGPU boards in the subrack are switched over.

5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for the second ATCA shelf as well, if applicable.

The JBXGPU switchover is tested for the second shelf.

2.7 Test JBXSSW SwitchoverFor each ATCA shelf:

To test the JBXSSW switch over:

1. Identify the active JBXSSW board.

The active JBXSSW board has the ACT LED ON, in logical slot 1 or2 on ATCA shelf.

2. Reset the active JBXSSW.

With a match or a pencil, press the Reset button on the active JBXSSW.

The board is initializing.

3. The other JBXSSW board becomes active (the ACT LED comes ON).

4. Wait 10 minute for the reseted board to recover.

5. Reset the other (active) JBXSSW.

With a match or a pencil, press the Reset button on the active JBXSSW.

6. First JBXSSW becomes active.

The other JBXSSW board is initializing.

7. Wait 10 minutes for the reseted board to recover.

2.8 Test JBXMUX SwitchoverTo test the JBXMUX switchover:

1. In the main GPRS Terminal window, select:

View -> Site ViewThe Site View window opens.

2. In the Site View window identify the active JBXMUX

3. Right click on the active JBXMUX and select [ Switch over ]

4. Check that the stand-by JBXMUX becomes active, LED on front panelswitches ON.
