What type of network is ELAN Network?

The Network is composed of intermediary organisations that support SMEs in the development of TBBOs between EU and LA.

Members can be of several types:§ Knowledge and technology based organisations (KTBO) with an

ability and interest in identifying the best ideas, in order to transform them into business.

§ Business support organisations (BSO) that work with SMEs in various different domains: innovation, internationalisation, competitiveness, entrepreneurship...

§ Public sector actors, drivers of the innovation ecosystem in their territories and owners of programmes and policies that support the generation of business opportunities.

§ Innovative SMEs: leaders and/or drivers in their sector, region or association and who wish to participate in activities beyond their individual participation.



ELAN Network is a network of partners…• Whose organisational mission is aligned with the goals of ELAN

Network, i.e. generating TBBOs and creating the right context for these to mature and grow

• Whose track record proves they are one of the most proactive agents in their ecosystem

• Who understand the importance of focussing technology on solving or generating a market need and what it takes to make a TBBO grow successfully

• Who are active, participative, proactive and generous about generating TBBOs and strengthening the ELAN Network itself

• Who are interested in improving as a support organisation and learning from others, as well as helping others to grow

• Who are determined to make an impact

Acceptance


• A candidate’s application will include§ Why they wish to apply: their motivations and what they can bring to

the network§ Relevant experience to prove their proactivity, skills and knowledge

• Candidates will provide at least 2 references§ Of activities / initiatives they have led, related to the network’s

mission§ Of activities / initiatives led by other agents (national or

international) where they have collaborated as partners

Accession process: STEP 1


• The ELAN Network Membership Committee will review the application and if necessary§ Confirm the accuracy of the information presented§ Contact the references§ Require more information


Review


• In case of acceptance, the ELAN Network Membership Committee will issue an acceptance letter, inviting the candidate to join the ELAN Network

• New Members will sign an accession agreement accepting the values, rights and responsibilities of the network

Collaboration between members

• Members are committed to proactively collaborating with other members to generate TBBOs between EU and LA.

• Members believe that in order for business opportunities to be successful, a win-win context must be generated, where sharing and co-creating are key, and are committed to creating this environment among members and with the SMEs involved.

• Members support one another in their growth and development, by sharing best practices and success cases. Members value ideas and support from other members and are happy to recognise support given by others.

Active participation and promotion of ELAN Activities

• Members will respect and support the role of Country Coordinator and work in a coordinated manner when organising or participating in activities carried out within the scope of the ELAN Network objectives.

• Members attract participants to network events and technical missions in coordination with the corresponding Event Organiser and Technical Mission Organiser.

• Members actively participate in supporting the identification and development of TBBOs and offer support to companies partaking in these TBBOs

• Members participate in networking and dissemination activities.

Formal obligations

• Each member is responsible for their own participation in the ELAN Network. Members are open to learning and are responsible of their own capacity building for the benefit of the Network purpose.

• Members do not represent the ELAN Network in any way and may not enter into any agreements or make commitments on behalf of the ELAN Network.

• Members will respect ELAN Network Communication and Visibility Guidelines and will contribute to the promotion of clear and transparent communication within the ELAN Network.

• Members will respect confidentiality guidelines

Members will commit to these aspects in the Accession Agreement


Participation of members

ELAN Network will expect members to • Participate in ELAN Network events and activities• Attract companies to ELAN Network events and activities• Identify technology-based business opportunities• Support and accompany TBBO and its partners• Participate in the communication and visibility actions about ELAN Network• Use the ELAN Network to find the right partners and support to support the

TBBO in their maturity and growth• Create connections with other ELAN Network members to share and learn,

and use the ELAN Network activities and tools to improve their skills and services

• Become an active member of the innovation ecosystem, participating in the generation of initiatives and conditions that will facilitate and promote TBBO generation & development

An annual follow-up of member participation will be carried out



In particular ELAN Network participation will be measured according to the following activity indicator developed for this purpose:

All ELAN Network members shall fulfil a minimum of activity equivalent to 20 points among the activities listed above.



The ELAN Network Membership Committee will:• Review participation of members annually according to this

indicator• Identify members with whom to review membership status

and, if relevant, establish a set of actions to be carried out in the following year

• Review cases for membership termination• Decide on termination of membership
