Love Your Family Cecil H. Nelson Jr. passed away on August 26 at the age of 90. Born to Katherine & Cecil H. Nelson on Dec. 27, 1925 in Southing- ton, Ohio, he resided in the Akron area most of his life. He developed a love of the outdoors from an early age, camping & fishing with his father. As a Boy Scout he learned to shoot & hunt, activi- ties he enjoyed through- out his life, sharing them with his children & grandchildren. Learning self sufficiency from his grandmother who cured his poison oak with a hike to the swamp for plants to make a poultice, he was self-taught - whether run- ning a business, raising pigs, building a chicken coop or an ultra-light air- plane. Joining the Army- Air Corp. in 1943, he served as a belly gun- ner in a B-24 while sta- tioned in England. His love of country & flying remained an important part of his life. Earning his private pilot’s license, he was a member of the J5 Flying Club & the EAA, building an ultra- light plane, & attending their annual convention in Oshkosh, WI for many years. A member of the Mud Run Gun Club, he enjoyed shooting & made his own bullets until mov- ing to KentRidge. He had an appreciation of Native American culture; liked country western music & played the harmonica. Making lifelong friends through his work as a truck driver for Standard Oil, he enjoyed people and had a wide circle of supportive friends. He was preceded in death by Elsa his wife of 48 years, son Joel, grand- son Travis Thirion and partner of 18 years, Mary Denzinger. He is survived by his daughters Judy (Jim) Confer, Atlanta, GA; CeCe (Dave) Hanacek, Wallace, NC; Edie Nelson, Cupertino, CA; Kathy (Jim) Harris, Tallmadge, OH & son Daniel (Joy) Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Chris (Jamee) Confer, Matt (Katie) Confer, Breanna Harris (Zach Hohman) Brent (Michelle) Har- ris, Brandon (Marissa) Nelson, Missy Nelson; great-grandchildren Ann- Dallas, Payne, Shia, Ellie, Oliver; and his sis- ter Wanda (Joe) Trenta- due. His family extends their gratitude to his Ken- tRidge family for their kindness & care & to ClearPath Home Health. A private service will be held. Maxine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Christ- mas and summer gath- erings when her young- est, Bill and family came home from Arizona were her favorites but each time her family was near was special. Left to cherish her memory are husband Earl Sands, her children Mike (Pam) Edwards, Debbie Edwards, Sherry (Rob) Blankenship, Jerry (Debbie) Edwards, Doug (Sarah) Edwards and Bill (Aimee) Edwards, grand- children Shane (Ali), Peter, Samantha (Lon- nie), Brandon, Kyle, Col- lin, Jesse, Reese, Dustin (Brittany), Bret, Benja- min and Juliana. Fulton, age 82, of Scio, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at Heather Knoll Retire- ment Center, Tallmadge, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 19, 1933 in Milan he was a son of the late Ralph M. Fulton and Edith May Thayer Fulton. Harold graduated from Townsend High School, Collins, OH. He was the head custodian at Aurora High School and was a Mounted Patrol Officer with the Portage County Sheriff Office with his horse “Joker” for almost 15 years. An animal lover all of his life, Har- old purchase a dairy farm near Conotton in the late 1980’s. He and his wife, Esther, lovingly named it Loriland Farm. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Esther Hughes Fulton, an infant daughter Merrie Rose Fulton and a brother Howard Fulton. Surviving are daughters Janis (William) Perkins of Stow, Jane (Robert) Gregg of Munroe Falls and Keri (Thomas) Ell- son of Ontario, Canada; a brother James Richard Fulton of Norwalk; grand- children Allison, Damon, Shane, Travis, Benjamin, Amie, Jonah, Amanda and Elizabeth and thirteen great grandchildren. Clavner, Ph.D., 73, a thirty-year resident of the Mantua/Shalersville area died peacefully Mon- day, August 22, 2016, at home with his wife Cath- erine by his side. He died much as he had lived, pas- sionately involved with this world. His final gift to us all was donating his body to medical science so he could continue teach- ing. Although he suffered from a brain tumor the past five years, he bravely accepted his condition and continued entertaining us with his brilliant sense of humor and dispens- ing advice (occasionally unwanted) with a direct- ness and sensitivity that was unique. Jerry was born and raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Colum- bia University taking his Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University. He spent thirty-nine years at Cuyahoga Community College as a professor of sociology and anthropol- ogy. He had no office hours because his door was always open for his students. He was some- what political, being a for- mer mayor of Mantua as well as active in causes including those for all of humanity with its infinite variety of peoples. He would (and did) celebrate anything with anybody. He also contributed to the arts and did fundraising for them. He was such a unique and fun character that once met was never forgotten. He is survived by his wife Catherine, step- daughters Barbara Figueroa (Ronnie) and Rebecca Humes (Gene), and step-son Michael Wet- more. His grandchildren like to say that “Grampa always had a solution or a fix for anything.” They are: Jennifer Brannen (Bob), Joseph Humes, Cailin Harris, and Cara Humes. Jerry was pre- ceded in death by his par- ents Herman and Edith Clavner and his brother Donald. Cecil H. Nelson Jr. passed away on August 26 at the age of 90.

Born to Katherine & Cecil H. Nelson on Dec. 27, 1925 in Southing-ton, Ohio, he resided in the Akron area most of his life. Harold R. Fulton 1933-2016

Harold R. Fulton, age 82, of Scio, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at Heather Knoll Retire-ment Center, Tallmadge, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry B. Johnson, 93 years of age, passed away Sunday July 17, 2016.

Warren – Mildred A. Duke passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at Com-munity Skilled Nursing Centre.

Mildred was born Sep-tember 26, 1935 in Buck-hannon, West Virginia a daughter of the late Hob-ert and Allene Rowan.

Mildred will be sadly missed by her daughter: Barbara (Steve) Walzak; her sons: David (JoAnn) Poling, Richard A. Pol-ing and Terry Poling; a sister: Wilma Tacket; a niece Theresa Finchum; her grandchildren: John Mitchell, David Poling,

Derick Poling, and Tela Poling; and her great grandchildren: Darian Poling, Zoe Poling, Avery Poling and Xavier Poling.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ted Duke.
