PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Well done to all of our Rugby League teams who competed in Dubbo last week. The boys played five or six games over one or two days. Outstanding results for all, including the Under 14’s and Under 16’s soon to represent us at the state level. Congratulations to Lincoln Monk who received the Player of the Semi’s and Ethan Monk who received Player of the Tournament. Many thanks to our parent drivers and supporters.
Yr 12 students participated in two HSC Study Days in Dubbo last week gaining valuable tips and tricks for each of their courses. Thanks to Mr Berney and Mrs Nicki Tremain who assisted in driving the students.

ENGLISH STUDIES
The English Studies course is designed to support and engage students in
developing their proficiency in English. This course is a non-ATAR course, so
students consider whether this is the right option for their future study
plans.
This course provides students with knowledge and learning to help students understand the world which lies outside of school. They do this by studying things such as interview techniques, resume writing and looking at rental applications as this gives students a real world view of English in use.
Currently students are studying “English in Sport” with students creating a motivational speech and narrative.

SPORTS REPORT
It has been a very busy time in sport for the last month. The athletics carnival was completed in Friday
Week 4. We had tremendous weather and the students participation rates was very high, thanks to the
P and C for running the canteen and the staff, parents and students for making it a fantastic carnival.
I had the pleasure of taking the Western Boys Hockey side away to Wollongong for the NSWCHS
championships. It really highlighted to me that sport can always throw up surprises, with our side
defeating a very strong South Coast team which contained 6 NSW U/18’s representatives. Unfortunately,
Western lost to North Coast in the final 3 – 1.
The highlight though was our success in Rugby League 7 a side. We competed in the Western Area 7 a
side central schools knockout in U/14’s, U/16’s and Opens division. We may not have had as impressive
uniforms or number of players compared to other sides, but we showed tremendous heart and
character.
The U/16’s played first and in the first game defeated Binnaway 30 – 6. We then played a combined
Trundle/Tullamore side and won 30 – 10. We then went on to play a combined Trangie/Peak Hill team
and won that narrowly 6 – 4. The following game we played Molong and with the scores at nil all at half
time they narrowly defeated us 10 – 0 in what was a brutal game. We bounced back against Lake
Cargelligo 28 – 4 and then beat Coolah 16 – 12 in the last game. This meant that we came 2nd in the
tournament and we progress through to the NSW Central Schools Finals to be held in Dubbo. Ethan
Monk was named Player of the Tournament.

The Opens side played the next day which was made up of a lot of the U/16’s. They played a strong
Coolah team in the first game and were narrowly defeated 10 – 6. In the second game they played
Walgett and this was highly entertaining with some great tries scored and Yeoval won 24 – 10. They then
played Lake Cargelligo in the last pool game and won that 26 – 4. This meant that the boys came 2nd in
the pool and now needed to play a very strong Molong side. The boys were tired and busted but never
gave in and were defeated 28 – 12.
The U/14’s had a sensational day going through undefeated and progressing to the NSW Central Schools
finals as well. They played an Orange Anglican Invitational team and won 30 – 12, then beat
Gulargambone 28 – 10, in the match of the day the Yeoval side defeated Molong 20 – 12. We then
played a combined Tullamore/Trundle team and won that game 24 – 12. In the semi final the boys
played their hearts out through fatigue and injury and won 18 – 16. Lincoln Monk was named player of
the Semi Final.
I would like to thank all of the parents who supported over the 2 days with first aid, travel and
encouragement. The boys represented themselves, their families and their school with pride and
distinction and I could not have been more proud.
The opens team consisted of: Jake Monk, Matthew Wykes, Charles Iffland, Jordan Stubbs, Billy Kramer,
Jayden Cusack, Josh Fitzgerald, Ethan Monk, Bailey Carr, Harry Pittis
The U/16’s team consisted of: Ethan Monk, Billy Kramer, Jayden Cusack, Josh Fitzgerald, Bailey Carr,
Harry Pittis, Harry Finlay, Jacob Stubbs, Lincoln Monk with assistant coach Jake Monk
The U/14’s team consisted of: Lincoln Monk, Jacob Stubbs, Blake Cameron, Will Cannon, Jamie Jerrard,
Ruben Hudson, Joseph McClure, Zayden Phillips, William Phillips, Brian Peacock and Logan Porch with
assistant coach Colt Phillips.

YEAR 4/5/6 PERFORMANCE
Year 4/5/6 had a design brief to create a performance. We had to reveal basic facts about Ned Kelly as well as design an animation to go with the performance.
We worked in groups.
Group 1: Dance Choreography
Group 2: Collection of facts and writing script.
Group 3: Utilised an Ipad app, Toontastic to create an animation.
We had a great time and highly recommend that given the opportunity, you should grab it.
