What is an Art Car?Our Art Car is a vehicle and a work of art in one. An Art Car remains fully functional and can be used on the road or for racing — in other words, it is not simply a static part of an artistic object.

What does Distribution Art Car mean?As Europe's third largest distributor, Rutronik acts as a connecting link between customers and suppliers. The Art Car project has been brought to life together with 46 suppliers from the electronics sector — so that is what we mean by Distribution Art Car.

How did the Distribution Art Car come about?

One in every hundred children born in Germany has a heart defect. Rutronik and the suppliers want to raise public awareness of this fact. The Distribution Art Car gives the project participants the opportunity to provide fast, loud and effective promotion for the Bundesverband Herzkranke Kinder e.V. (BvhK), an association of parents' initiatives in Germany that represents families with affected children.

How did this cooperation with the BvhK come about?

Rutronik has been supporting the Bundesverband Herzkranke Kinder e.V. for many years. Each year, the company invites children and their families to enjoy a day at the racing track — according to the principle: "A change is as good as a rest".

Who is the artist who created the Art Car?Rudi Fielitz is an artist from Karlsruhe, and he is the creator of this work of art. He has combined the functional aesthetics of a racing car with a kaleidoscope of colors and forms: The result provides a uniquely dynamic milieu for the supplier logos. Even when stationary, the Art Car is a firework of energy.

What is special about the Distribution Art Car?The Distribution Art Car is a joint project mounted by 47 electronic sector companies. What makes it stand out from the crowd is its paintwork: Function meets Art meets Advertising. That is why the Art Car is one of a kind.

Rudi FielitzRudi Fielitz's preoccupations are the cosmos, people and nature. This broad range of interests find their expression in Fielitz's own, very special figurative language, and this in turn translates into works of glass, stone, metal and wood. The artist explores and reveals the principles of natural processes in relation to color, light and space within the given context. He uses the spatiality of the colors to breathe life and sensuousness into the motifs of the cosmos, mankind and nature

Harmonious and yet also full of artistic tension. Fielitz achieves this apparent paradox with deceptive ease — a symphony of meditative experience and a fantasy of stored imagery. Both his painted works and his sculptures and other objects occupy territory that is neither in the real world, nor in the world of art; not mirroring nature, but abstract. Fielitz's own term for them is 'impressionist abstractions'.

Rudi Fielitz was born in 1948 in Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg. He fled from East Germany, the former German Democratic Republic, in 1967, first to Sweden and then to Karlsruhe. His works have been exhibited in many parts of Europe, including the Moscow 'Central House of Artists', and they are to be found in a number of public collections such as the Städtische Galer Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe City Gallery). Rudi Fielitz now lives in Karlsruhe as a freelance artist.

What type of vehicle is the Distribution Art Car?The Distribution Art Car is an Audi R8 LMS, a GT3 racing version of the Audi R8. This racing car has dramatically proved its speed and reliability with a string of successes and championship titles since 2009.

Why is the Distribution Art Car a racing car?The first point is that the Audi R8 LMS's eye-catching lines are guaranteed to attract attention. Secondly, motor sport represents a suitable means of raising public awa-reness for the project. Also, Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH is already a well-established motor sport partner. With the high stresses and extreme conditions involved, the sport provides a demanding testing environment for electronic com-ponents. This is where the strengths and weaknesses of individual products can be investigated.
