Dear Friends in Christ,
I love the story of Jeanne Calment, who at age 90, sold her home
in Arles, France to her lawyer, Andre Raffray. In a unique reverse
mortgage agreement, Raffray age 46, would pay Clement $500
per month until her death when the title to the home would
transfer to his name. For Calment it turned out to be a great
deal. In 1986, she became the world's oldest living person, and
not until 32 years after the sale (age 122) would she die. Raffray
actually pre-deceased her two years in 1995. The New York
Times reported, "Raffray paid 30 years for a house he never
owned. The amount was more than twice the home's current
market value. And for the rest of her life his estate was obligated
to keep sending that monthly check.
Two great truths we find in Scripture: First our lifespan on earth
is only established by God. It can be long or short, filled with joys
or sorrows. The second truth may not be as obvious but it is as
certain. Our earthly life is temporary and far briefer than our time
in eternity. Missionary Jim Elliott once said, “He is no fool who
gives what he cannot keep to gain what he can never
lose.” See you in church this Sunday. Pastor Larry.

All children’s Sunday school classrooms from toddlers through
grade five are engaged in the books of Samuel learning all about
Great King David. The stories are rich in sharing mercy and grace
and how awesome our God is to the least expected.
STORM 2019 was a huge success. Jesus worked through the 34
youth on teams each day and the adults involved. The STORM
Leadership Team worked in the power of the Holy Spirit (and
many full coffee cups!). Storm completed 35 projects serving
local homeowners, the city of Louisville, and others. Storm
worked on landscaping, roofing, demolition, and painting. During
evening worship, students testified where they saw God, how they
learned new skills, and achieved accomplishments. Jesus also
used all y’all at Christ UMC, whether through food and financial
donations, volunteers in the kitchen, tool garage, or lending of
vehicles. On Thursday’s Community Night, 165 people attended
the meal and heard how God used youth to serve God’s Kingdom.
We praise God for your support of this ministry, for safety, and for
the Kingdom work accomplished during this week!
AGAPE 5.5
Christ United Methodist Church exists to bring people to a personal saving relationship
with Jesus Christ and to bring all believers to maturity in Christ through worship, study,
training, and to place them in ministry both within and without the congregation.

were married at Christ
Church June 29th.
God desires to change our
hearts for His glory. Agape
Word will be discussing Ezeki-
el’s ministry, examining how
this book is relevant today.
For those who have grown
complacent or cold in our
walk with God, “A New Heart”
outlines how God desires to
bring us closer to him.
The W.H.O. ladies have been active in mission! They are hand-
crafting custom window treatments (curtains) for 4 Camp
Wanake buildings and cabins. To date they have completed 46
Wanake window treatments!
Christ Church has been blessed
this past year with organ music
for worship by Nancy Howenstine.
Sunday, July 28, she will retire
and on that day we will share our
appreciation for her service at
Christ Church. We celebrate Nan-
cy’s gifts and are grateful for the
joy she has shared with our
Church family.
Agape Kids have been learning God’s
promises and truths through science exper-
iments which the kids are doing. We take
some time to unwind outside and enjoy
popsicles as our summertime treat!
