1.Site Clearance

1.SCOPE OF WORK Site clearing generally consists of the cutting and / or taking down, removal and disposal of everything above

ground level, including objects overhanging the area to be cleared such as tree branches, except such trees,

vegetation, structures or parts of structures.

2. SETTING OUTThe right of way (R.O.W.) shall be surveyed and set out before any site clearance is carried out. Wooden pegs

usually indicate the surveyed rights of ways.

3. EQUIPMENTSite clearing of trees, vegetation, undergrowth, bushes and minor structures are carried out by dozers and or

hydraulic excavators. Trees that cannot be felled by the aforesaid equipments shall be felled by using saws.

2.Survey Work

1.SCOPE OF WORKThe work shall consist of detailed Survey work such as establishment of working bench mark, marking of project center line, taking of OGL etc.2.EQUIPMENTSThe following equipments shall be used for Survey Work.1. Auto Levels2. Total Station3. Calculator4. Field book5. Measuring Tape3. METHOD OF OPERATION3.1 Establishment of working Bench Marks tied with the Reference Bench Mark in the area soon after

taking possession of the site. These to be got verify from Engineer. TBM rechecking to be done in every month/specified interval and will be verify by Engineer.

3.2 The working Bench Marks shall be at the rate of four per km and also at or near all drainage structures, over-bridges and underpasses.

3.3 NGL to be taken at 10 mtr interval longitudinally in specified offset.

3.Clearin and Grubbing

1.SCOPE OF WORKIt consistof cutting, excavation,

removing and disposing of all materials such as trees of girth up to 300 mm

2. EQUIPMENTSThe following equipments shall be used to carry out the Clearing & Grubbing operation.

1. Grader

2. Excavator / J.C.B.

3. Tipper / Tractor Trolley.

4. Rollers

4.Embankment Filling

1.SCOPE OF WORKThe work shall consist of Construction of embankment with approved and specified materials

obtained from approved borrow areas or suitable material obtained from roadway excavation anddrain excavation.

2. SETTING OUTAfter completion of site clearance, the limits of embankment shall be marked by fixing pegs on bothsides at regular intervals. The chainage boards and working bench mark shall be set outside thelimits of construction areas.3.SELECTION OF MATERIAL AND BORROW AREAS3.1 MaterialThe material used in Embankment shall be soil, moorum, gravel, a mixture of these or any othermaterial approved by the Engineer. It shall be free from logs, stumps, roots, rubbish & any othermaterial detrimental to the stability of structure. The material for embankment shall be obtainedfrom the approved source with preference to the material becoming available from nearbyroadway excavation or any other excavation under the contract.

5.Excavation

1.SCOPE OF WORK

The work shall consist of excavation to match level as per Plan and Profile

2.EQUIPMENTS

The following equipments shall be carried out for the Embankment Construction:

Hydraulic Excavator

Dozer

Dumper (Tipper Trucks)

Motor Grader

Vibratory Roller

Water Tanker

Tractor Trolleys

3. METHOD OF OPERATIONThe excavation of cutting shall be carried out in accordance with the drawings and to

the slopes, levels, depths, widths and heights shown on the drawings.

Prior to commencement of the works, surveyor will use the survey data of roadalignment and TBM provided by the Engineer for setting out the extent of cutting inaccordance with the cross sections and put in such pegs, bars, sight rails and referencemarkers necessary to control the works.A survey team shall monitor and control each stage of work. All the major setting outworks will be carried out jointly with the Engineer's Surveyor. At the same time, thecut material below the top soil level shall be sampled and tested for laboratorycompaction, laboratory CBR, grading and index properties, so that it may be classifiedas suitable or not for the various categories of fill. Requests for Approvals for use ofthat material as fill will then be submitted.

6.Subgrade

1.SCOPE OF WORKThe work shall consist of Construction of Sub-grade with approved and specified materials obtained from approved borrow areas or suitable material obtained from roadway excavation and drain excavation.2.SETTING OUTAfter completion of clearing and grubbing and embankment, the limits of sub-grade shall be marked by fixing pegs on both sides at regular intervals. The chainage boards and working bench mark shall be set outside the limits of construction areas.4.SELECTION OF MATERIAL AND BORROW AREAS4.1 MaterialThe material used in Sub-grade shall be soil, moorum, gravel, a mixture of these or any other material approved by the Engineer. It shall be free from logs, stumps, roots, rubbish & any other material detrimental to the stability of structure.4.2 Borrow MaterialSamples shall be collected from the identified borrow area & tested as per IS 2720. On confirmation of the suitability material the area shall be properly demarcated.

6. METHOD OF OPERATION1.After completion of embankment, the limits of sub-grade shall be marked by fixing pegs at regular intervals before commencing the earthwork. Construction toe will be more than the design toe to ensure proper compaction on edges.2.The Embankment top shall be leveled to facilitate placement of first layer of Sub-grade, scarified, mixed with water and then compacted by rolling so as to achieve minimum dry density as specified in the modified Technical specification. 3.M.D.D. of Borrow Area soil shall be determined, and the soil shall be tested for dry density, if found less than 97% of M.D.D., the layer shall be scarified mixed with water and compacted with vibratory roller to achieve minimum specified dry density.
