Why Are We Here?

##312 to 22 percent of students require mental health services

##4Only about one in 50 students receives mental health services.

Of those receiving services, 75 percent obtain them within the educational sector.

To raise awareness of warning signs.

To provide advice on reaching out to students and referring them for appropriate assistance.

Content: Four hours of training in: Prevention of child abuse, violence and substance abuse

Promotion of positive youth development

Fulfilling Expanded Ohio Revised Code Requirements

Required for: Individuals employed by school districts or service centers as:

Nurses, teachers, counselors, school psychologists or administrators who work in elementary schools

Encouraged for all K-12 school professionalsFulfilling Expanded Ohio Revised Code Requirements

Currently employed K-12 school professionals:

Must complete at least four (4) hours of in-service training by March 30, 2009; and
