Jesus did some of his best work around the table. Lessons were taught, stories were told, and people were healed. One quick example can be found in comparing Luke 14 and 15. In Luke 14 Jesus is having dinner with a leader of the Pharisees. Upon seeing how people chose their places around the table, Jesus offered a lesson in humility. Criticized for eating with sinners, Jesus teaches us about the grace of God.

The Prayer Ministry is planning a Week of Prayer event for January 9-13, 2017, to start off the 200th year anniversary celebration. We are in the process of compiling prayer requests from each area of ministry in our church to be placed in a prayer booklet. Each day’s prayer guide will be divided into three sections: Upward (Confessional and Praise), Inward (Inside our Church), and Outward (Outside our Church). This booklet will not only be our guide during this Week of Prayer, but will also serve as a prayer guide for us to use during the year 2017. Send us your prayer requests for your area of service and ministry so we can include them in the Inward and Outward sections of the Prayer Booklet? We are requesting that you be as specific and detailed as you can and to include any scripture or scripture references that might pertain to your prayer request. Please email you requests to Sherri Hollar at [email protected] or call 706-855-9767.

200th Anniversary NewsOur new FBC history book is on the way to the publishers! We have been given a wonderful opportunity to honor and remember special people in this book. The last pages will be dedicated to our church family. You may purchase a line that will have your name on it and the individuals that you are honoring or remembering. Each line is $20 and there is no limit on how many lines you may purchase. On some pages it will read:In honor of _________________ by _____________________On others:In memory of _________________by ___________________There are forms in the Church Office on week days with Susan and Lavinia. Please make checks payable to First Baptist Church. This is a wonderful way to honor children, other family members, and to remember someone special. It will be meaningful to see the names of loved ones in our new history book. It is also a way of documenting ones membership at FBC Augusta.
