I want to express my deep gratitude to you. Multiple times a day, I am asked by members of our church when the baby will be arriving. We chat for a few moments about how Sara is feeling and if I am ready to be a father of three. When the conversation is almost over, you promise to pray for my family as we approach the birth of our newest daughter. I can’t begin to express how much it means to us to know that our family is in your prayers. Tomorrow is the big day. I am so excited to meet my daughter and see Sara hold her for the first time. I can’t wait for Miriam and Evie to see their new sister. It is a great feeling to know my little girl is being brought into a family that is so rich with love. Yes, at one level I am talking about my biological family and, at a level just as deep, I am talking about you. This little girl is going to be loved by so many people and it makes my heart swell with joy. It is a great privilege to be your pastor and an even greater honor to be your friend. First Thoughts

Dear Church,

I will be brief in my thoughts this week.

We will arrive to the hospital at six in the morning with a sense of anxiety and hopeful expectation. Our life is, once again, going to change for the better.

Grace and Peace, Will

Debbie Williams served the Lord with all of her heart and soul. First Baptist of Augusta will continue to grow and enjoy her dedication to God through the Debbie Williams Prayer Room in the MAC Center. The dedication will be on July 8th.After graduating from Emory University in 1973, Debbie married her husband, Dr. George Williams in 1975. The young couple went on their first foreign mission trip to Ghana, Africa. This was the first of many mission trips their family would take through the Southern Baptist International Mission Board to such places as Hungary, Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia, and Chile. Over the years, Mrs. Williams served her church in various capacities including chairing the Ministerial Advisory Council, acting as a member of the Building Committee and Historical Committee, teaching Sunday School, and being an a member of the Grace Sunday School class, and serving on the Board of Deacons. Some of her more creative endeavors for the church included directing several productions of “A Night on Broadway,” organizing the Boar’s Head Dinner, organizing the Women’s Jubilee, redesigning the Children’s Sunday School building into the Biblical Jerusalem. She always loved working with youth and organized various youth and adult mission trips around the world that included training in drama, puppetry, clowning, and interpretive dance.Debbie twice organized the city-wide C.S. Lewis Festival, which included building a life-sized reproduction of Narnia that was visited by over 7000 people. Her efforts were recognized as exemplary by the national C. S. Lewis Foundation, which invited her to Oxford, England where she lectured on the topic of organizing C. S. Lewis Festivals. Dr. George Williams, her children Rev. Will Williams ( Lesley- Anne) and Nan Williams Bowman ( Vance), and other friends and family will be in attendance.
