DAY 1: Aims & Objectives
By the end of Day 1 learners will:Have an understanding of change and how

DAY 1: Learning Outcomes
Getting to know one another. Have an understanding of change and the change
cycle/learning cycle. Be aware of how change affects them personally. Understand the concept of the ‘comfort zone’. Understand stress, its causes and management
strategies. Understand more about their strengths and weaknesses
and build self esteem. Assess where they are and identify what needs to
change. Understand and develop SMART objectives.
DAY 1: Activities
TOPICS COVERED: What is change? Why is change difficult? Where am I now? What do I want to
change? Reasons to change. Changes at work. Responding confidently. Setting goals.
ACTIVITIES: Change Curve. Coping with Stress. Strengths & Weaknesses Life Wheel. Force Field Analysis. Changes at Work. Goal Setting.
DAY 2: Aims & Objectives
By the end of Day 2 learners will:Have developed and practised some skills
for coping with changeHave developed and practised some skills
for dealing with difficult people and situations
Be able to develop SMART (ER) goalsHave set their own personal action plan for
change
DAY 2: Learning Outcomes
Understand and practise active listening. Understand how we react to change and learn that we
can change our reactions. Become aware of the meaning of body language and
aware of their own body language. Understand the difference between assertive, passive
and aggressive behaviours. Learn assertive techniques and practise dealing with
requests. Understand models for problem solving and practise
these in their own situations.
DAY 2: Activities
TOPICS COVERED: Listening skills. Body language. Dealing with other
people. Problem solving and
creative thinking. Setting SMART (ER)
goals. Surviving change.
ACTIVITIES: What we remember. Active listening. Stimulus and Response. Assessing body
language. Asking for what we
want. Saying ‘no’! Problem solving Goal setting.
DAY 3: Aims & Objectives
By the end of Day 3 learners will: Have an understanding of the concept of ‘self
marketing’ Have identified goals related to job search
activities Have developed and practised skills and
techniques – CV preparation, interview skills and completing application forms
Be able to identify future career opportunities and set personal goals in pursuit of these
DAY 3: Learning Outcomes
Be aware of skills which are transferable and identify their own range of skills.
Understand the basics of marketing and how it applies in their own situation.
Understand that the CV is a marketing document and prepare a sample.
Be aware of what employers are looking for in application forms and during interviews and practise for both.
Understand the range of opportunities which match their skills; where to look for these opportunities.
Be able to set out a Career Action Plan.

TOPICS COVERED: Identifying transferable
skills. Secrets of self
marketing. Preparing an effective
CV. Completing application
forms. Practising interview
skills. Sourcing opportunities.
ACTIVITIES: What are my skills? Marketing techniques. Gathering information
for a CV. Responding to questions
both written and face-to-face.
Hunting for jobs. Action planning.
