IntroductionAs our population continues to age, we are seeing a tidal wave of older persons in our area
hospitals, clinics and nursing homes. The fastest growing segment of the population are those
above the age of 85 years. The purpose of our conference is to provide an evidence-based
approach to help clinicians take exceptional care of these often frail individuals.
Nearly 40 state-of-the-art sessions taught by top,
national experts speaking on the most clinically relevant
topics in Geriatric Medicine, including:
Geriatric Cardiology – latest information on Diastolic Heart Failure,
Aortic Stenosis, Hypertension, and Hyperlipidemia
A Symposium on Geriatric Syndromes including Delirium, Falls,
Bone Health, Depression, and Dementia, with a focus on delivering
practice-specific pearls to help you care for your elderly patients
Clinical Workshop Breakout Sessions, including the popular
“Ask the Expert” forums
A Dedicated Session for Advanced Practice Practitioners and Pharmacists
Multiple Sessions designated for Patient Safety-Risk Management Credit
Learning ObjectivesAt the end of this course, participants should be able to:
Better understand why care in the elderly should differ from that in younger persons,
and why the presentation of disease in the elderly is often atypical.
Apply a geriatric approach to common syndromes including dementia, depression,
delirium and osteoporosis.
Assess and manage neurological disease in the elderly, including Parkinson’s disease,
stroke and perform an appropriate neurological exam in an older person.
