A Note from Pastor Troy As we approach Resurrection Sunday, I want to help you prepare for our time of celebration together. The days leading up to Resurrection Sunday are known as Holy Week. It is a time of reflection upon the last week of Jesus' time on Earth, also known as the Passion Week. Palm Sunday Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday (March 20), which commemorates the day Jesus entered Jerusalem, the Holy City (Mark 11:1-11). As you reflect on Jesus' entry, put yourself there at the celebration of His arrival. You may even want to consider how you felt when Jesus entered your life as your Savior and ask Him to restore the joy of His salvation (Psalm 51:12). Maundy Thursday On the Thursday of Holy Week, we observe Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday. The term "Maundy" comes from the Latin word mandatum, meaning commandment or mandate. This refers to Jesus' commandment to serve one another and remember His impending sacrifice on the cross. Maundy Thursday commemorates Jesus' celebration of the Passover and Last Supper with His disciples and the instigation of the Lord's Supper (John 13:1-15, Matthew 26:20-30). We will gather as a faith family to celebrate Maundy Thursday on March 24 at 7pm. We will share in a time of worship, reflection, and remembrance that evening. Good Friday Good Friday will be March 25. In observance of this Holy Day, our church offices will be closed. Good Friday is also a day of remembrance and reflection upon Jesus' crucifixion (Luke 22:47- 23:56). Why do we call it "Good" Friday if it commemorates such a dark day of death? What makes Good Friday so good is that without it, there would be no Resurrection Sunday. At the time, it was a dark day, literally (Matthew 27:45). However, without the death of Christ, there would be no sacrifice for our sin, no expression of grace through God's forgiveness, and no hope for us. Take some time to reflect upon Jesus' death. Holy Saturday Saturday should be a day of silence to remember the silence of the tomb of Christ. Use Holy Saturday as a solemn and sacred day. In the time of Jesus, this would have been the Sabbath day. As much as possible, take time to rest, renew, recharge, and refresh. Take time to reflect upon the despair of the disciples as they mourned the loss of their Teacher. Continue to reflect upon the sacrifice of Jesus and what His death means for you. Resurrection Sunday HE IS RISEN! Today is the central event in Christian history. We celebrate the risen Jesus (Luke 24:1-49). While many call this Easter Sunday, it is truly a celebration of Jesus' resurrection. We celebrate not only the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, but that this secures the salvation of all who will BELIEVE in Him. I hope that you will join us for our Resurrection Day celebration on March 27. In both of our morning worship times, we will celebrate together that Jesus is alive! Blessings,

A Note from Pastor Troy

As we approach Resurrection Sunday, I want to help you prepare for our time of celebration together. The days leading up to Resurrection Sunday are known as Holy Week. It is a time of reflection upon the last week of Jesus' time on Earth, also known as the Passion Week.

Palm Sunday

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday (March 20), which commemorates the day Jesus entered Jerusalem, the Holy City (Mark 11:1-11). As you reflect on Jesus' entry, put yourself there at the celebration of His arrival. You may even want to consider how you felt when Jesus entered your life as your Savior and ask Him to restore the joy of His salvation (Psalm 51:12).

Maundy Thursday

On the Thursday of Holy Week, we observe Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday.

Good Friday

Good Friday will be March 25.

Holy Saturday

Saturday should be a day of silence to remember the silence of the tomb of Christ.

Resurrection Sunday

HE IS RISEN!

Just Us Girls Retreat, May 6-7: DATE & LOCATION CHANGE! We are now returning to the same place we held this event the first time, Still Waters Ranch (10340 Brandt Rd., Burton, TX 77835). The cost will be $20 per person, which includes accommodations and 3 meals. Please be sure to sign up via our web site (address above).

We are so blessed and grateful for the meals our faith family provides for our Wednesday night student ministry gathering called Refuge. Thanks to all our deacons and Sunday school classes who have graciously cooked and provided meals for our students and adult leaders. We still have April 27, and May 18 available for someone to provide a meal. Please contact the church office if you can help fill one of these openings. Thank you so much for your ministry to us! God bless you all! In His Service,

Cary
