34th Annual Guild Card Party (Alternative fundraiser)

As you may know, the Joliet Area Community Hospice Guild Annual Card Party

was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. For 33 years, the Guild has hosted

the Annual Card Party and it has always been a fun day of games, good food and conversation.

As with other JACH in-person fundraisers, we were heartbroken

that the Card Party would have to be cancelled.

Please know that JACH continues to care for patients and their caregivers and provide

grief support during the pandemic. Your support and funds are so important to make this possible.

These are recipes for bakery items you may have purchased

at the card party’s Country Kitchen. Why not try making them yourself?

1/4 c. soft butter 1/2 c sugar 1 lg room temp egg 1 c sour cream

1 1/2 tsp rum extract 1 1/2 c flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt 1 8oz. can crushed pineapple (drained) 1/2 c coconut 1/3 c chopped pecans

In large bowl, cream butter and sugar til light and fluffy. Beat egg, sour cream and extract. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir into creamed mixture just until moistened. Fold in pineapple, coconut and pecans. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full Bake at 375 for 22-25 minutes. Cool 5 minutes before removing pan to wire rack.

1 3/4 c. sugar (divided) 1/2 c soft butter 1 tsp. vanilla 6 oz. soft cream cheese

2 eggs 1 2/2 c flour 1 1/2 t. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt

2 tsp. Cinnamon 3 c. chopped, peeled apples

Beat 1 1/2 c sugar, butter, vanilla and cream cheese at med. speed until well blended. Add eggs, 1 at a time, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture beating at low speed until blended. Combine 1/4 c. sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle 2 Tablespoons over apples then stir apples into batter. Pour batter into an 8” springform pan. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon and sugar mix. Bake at 350 for 1 hour 15 minutes or until cake pulls away from sides of pan. Completely cool.

2 1/4 c. flour 1 t baking soda 1/2 c butter

1/2 t salt 1 tsp vanilla 2 eggs

3/4 packed light brown sugar 10 oz toffee bits

Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla til well blended. Add eggs and blend thoroughly. Gradually add flour mixture and mix well. Stir in toffee bits. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 9-12 min. at 350 degrees. Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheets and cool completely

Crust 2 c. flour 1 c butter 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Blend, press into 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes

Filling 4 beaten eggs 2 c sugar 1/2 c lemon juice 4 TBLS Flour

Mix 4 beaten eggs with 2 cups sugar, 1/2 c. lemon juice, 4 Tablespoons of flour and 3 teaspoons of baking powder. Pour over baked crust. Immediately return to oven for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar
