Day 1: Monday, March 11

Cairo hotel (four nights). Arrive Cairo International Airport and transfer by coach to the spectacular KEMPINSKI NILE HOTEL in Garden City, overlooking the river Nile (B&B basis). Overnight Cairo.

Day 2: Tuesday, March 12

Morning, explore the GIZA PLATEAU, including the three pyramids of the 4th Dynasty, the SPHINX, and the VALLEY TEMPLE OF KHAFRE. Lunch at the Mena House restaurant beneath the Great Pyramid (included). Afternoon, visit to the GRAND EGYPTIAN MUSEUM (if not yet open, then

the Cairo Museum instead) to see the Tutankhamun collection, the ‘Israel Stela’, the Year 400 Stela, the Amarna collection and the Royal Tombs collection from Tanis. Followed by one hour of free time to see other parts of the museum. Overnight Cairo.

Day 3: Wednesday, March 13

Morning visit to SAKKARA – the great necropolis of Memphis – to explore the STEP PYRAMID complex of Pharaoh Zoser (3rd Dynasty). Then visit the SERAPEUM and MASTABA OF TI. Afternoon free. In the evening, David will give his fi rst lecture on ‘The Israelites in Egypt’ at the hotel. Overnight Cairo.

IT INERARY

Plan now to join the Rev. Charlie Holt and guest lecturers/tour leaders David Rohl and Scott Stripling for a two-week tour and cruise of sites of Biblical history along the Nile River in Egypt. We will fl y into Cairo and visit museums, temples, pyramids, and other sites of interest in and around Cairo and along the river.

Your guest lecturers and tour leaders – David Rohl and Scott Stripling. They will be escorting the tour throughout, explaining what you are seeing, along with the help of our Egyptian guide.

Day 4: Thursday, March 14

A full day visit by coach to the LAND OF GOSHEN visiting BUBASTIS, AVARIS (Tell ed-Daba), and TANIS. Packed lunch on the coach. Overnight Cairo.

Day 5: Friday, March 15

Lake Nasser cruise (three nights). Morning, fl ight to Aswan and on to ABU SIMBEL. Check into MS OMAR EL-KHAYAM fi ve-star, luxury cruiser for our journey from Abu Simbel to Aswan (full board). Visit the great rock-cut temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari in the afternoon. In the evening there is an optional

SOUND AND LIGHT performance at the temples. Overnight Abu Simbel on board.

Day 6: Saturday, March 16

Morning sail to Qasr Ibrim, then on to AMADA and visit the temple. Sail on to Wadi es-Sebua where we overnight on board. Following afternoon tea, Scott will give his fi rst lecture on ‘The Excavations at Shiloh’.

Day 7: Sunday, March 17

Early morning, visit to the SEBUA TEMPLE before sailing on to Aswan. Following afternoon tea, David will present his lecture on ‘The Exodus and Conquest’. Overnight Aswan on board.

Day 8: Monday, March 18

Aswan to Luxor Nile cruise (three nights). At 8.00, visit Kalabsha temple, then check out of Ms Omar el-Khayam. At 11.30, transfer to the MS MINERVA fi ve-star cruiser (full board). Lunch on board. At 13.00, visit the PHILAE TEMPLE OF ISIS by motor launch and the GRANITE QUARRIES. Overnight on board. After dinner there will be an open forum discussion in the lounge bar.

Day 9: Tuesday, March 19

Early morning, sail for KOM OMBO where we visit the Greco-Roman double temple of Horus and Sobek. Sail to Edfu and visit to the TEMPLE OF HORUS. Sail on to Luxor. Dinner on board, followed by Scott’s lecture on ‘Archaeological Evidence for the Conquest’. Overnight Luxor on board.

Day 10: Wednesday, March 20

Morning, by coach to the west bank for a visit to the mortuary temple of Ramesses III at MEDINET HABU and the workmen’s village of DEIR EL-MEDINA, including two of the best decorated tombs. After tea David will give his lecture on ‘Egyptian chronology and the Biblical Timeline’. Overnight Luxor on board.

Day 11: Thursday, March 21

Luxor hotel (three nights). At 8:00 am, check out of Ms Minerva and transfer to the fi ve-star SONESTA HOTEL on the east bank of the Nile at Luxor for three nights (B&B basis).

Afternoon, by coach to the west bank necropolis of Thebes to visit the VALLEY OF THE KINGS where we explore three royal tombs. Return to the hotel via the COLOSSI OF MEMNON that once fronted the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. Overnight Luxor.

Day 12: Friday, March 22

Morning, visit to the huge temple complex of Amun-Re at KARNAK to see the Seti I campaign reliefs, the great hypostyle hall of 134 giant columns, the holy of holies and Hatshepsut chapel, the sacred lake, the granite statues of Khaneferre Sobekhotep IV, the Shoshenk I campaign relief (identifi ed with the Shishak invasion of Judah), and the Hittite Treaty wall of Ramesses II. Late afternoon, visit on foot along the promenade to the TEMPLE OF LUXOR. Overnight Luxor.

Day 13: Saturday, March 23

Morning, by coach to the Greco-Roman temple of Hathor at DENDERAH with its beautiful painted sky ceiling in the hypostyle hall, recently restored, and the famous Denderah Zodiac. Packed lunch on the

coach. Afternoon, continue to the temples of ABYDOS. Visit Seti I’s mortuary temple with its magnifi cent colored reliefs and intact Kings List. Then, passing the OSIRION, we visit the temple of Ramesses II to view the Battle of Kadesh reliefs close up. Return to Luxor and overnight.

Day 14: Sunday, March 24

Cairo hotel (one night). Afternoon, fl ight from Luxor to CAIRO. Check into LE MERIDIEN HOTEL near the airport for one night (B&B basis). Overnight Cairo.

Day 15: Monday, March 25

Morning, check out of the hotel and transfer to Cairo International Airport for the return fl ights to the USA, Spain and UK.

The tour is ‘Land Only’, which means that participants should arrange their own flight to Cairo International Airport and the return from the same airport to your home destination. We have arranged it this way simply because conference tour delegates are travelling from several countries and some may wish to spend extra time before or after the tour in Egypt or elsewhere in the Middle East or Europe. It is therefore advisable to secure your flights early (once you have booked your participation) so as to get the best ticket pricing . Internal flights in Egypt are included in the tour costings. The Cairo hotels can be booked for extra nights before or after the tour to suit flights (upon request).

Hotel stays in Egypt are on a bed and breakfast basis, because we will be out over lunch on some days and the hotels have several restaurant choices for evening meals. Both 5-star cruise boats are on a full board basis, serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Drinks will be charged and paid for on the last day of each element of the tour. We will

also be recommending personal tipping for the cruise boat staff (collectively), coach drivers, and our guide. Please plan on a minimum of $600.00 for incidental costs: travel between hotel and airport in Cairo, meals during hotel stays, tipping, incidentals, etc.

• A $500 deposit is required upon booking. The deadline for the deposit is August 8, 2018. After that St. John the Divine re-served spots will will be released.

• St. John the Divine has 22 guaranteed spots for 11 double occupancy rooms. A spot is reserved by a $500 deposit per person on a first come first served basis.

• A payment of 50% due on November 11th.

• The remaining balance due on January 11th.
