GRTI Dates to Remember

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to reflect on the past and look forward to great things in the future.

Last year was full of many changes at GRTI and its subsidiaries as we adjusted to various regulatory and personnel changes. Heraclitus, an ancient Greek philosopher, has been quoted as saying “change is the only constant in life,” which certainly has been true for GRTI the past couple of years. Many changes are difficult to control and life has a way of surprising us. However, our response to change is definitely within our control—and the employees at GRTI have been outstanding at coping with these changes.

Employees have stepped up to take on additional responsibilities when needed to help keep the daily operation moving. Others continue their education to help increase their value and take on more responsibility. Many others have helped through teamwork and sharing a positive

attitude with their co-workers.

The regulatory changes that the FCC imposed on GRTI recently had an impact on the budget but the company responded with modifications to the day-to-day operation that will help us make it through. In addition, we began to develop the subsidiaries to increase revenue and become less dependent on regulatory support from the government. Growing the subsidiaries and increasing net income will take some time but we are uniquely positioned to take advantage of the economic growth in the valley to become less affected by things that are out of our control.

I was one of the changes to GRTI in 2018 as I joined the team in May. Since then, I have had the pleasure of getting to know many of the employees while learning about the entire operation and the rich history of the Community. The help I received from everyone was excellent Continued on page 2

Elders Day at Rawhide 2018GRTI is always grateful to hang out with our community elders. We love seeing the familiar faces each year at the Elders Day event.

If you happened to stop by our booth you received information about our Great Call Program and GigaCenter unit.

GRTI subsidiaries Alluvion Communciations and Native Technology Solutions dontated the free promo items. To make the event even more fun GRTI, NTS, and Alluvion Communciations each donated a Harkins gift card to the event raffle. Thank you again for having us and we hope to see you next year!

and it showed me how devoted the employees are to improving the operation and adapting to change.

I am grateful to the Community for the opportunity to be part of GRTI and look forward to many years working together growing the subsidiaries, finding creative ways to deal with the unexpected issues that might come our way, and enjoying the success that we will experience working together while serving the Community.

Lively Mobile Emergency Response DeviceGRTI’s newest emergency response device is loaded with new features to help make your life easier. You can carry the device with you, even when you leave your home. Read on to learn more about the unit and how to get one.

How do I get a unit? Contact the Tribal Health Dept/Injury Prevention Program at (520) 562-5114 for an assessment.

When should I charge my device? When the battery is low, the Battery Indicator will flash red and you will hear a tone reminding you to charge. The tone will repeat more frequently as the battery level decreases further. If the battery loses all of its charge, the device will power off. The Lively Mobile will power back on shortly after being placed back into the charging dock. We recommend charging your device every night.

How does it work? In the case of an emergency, the GreatCall unit is activated by pressing a button on the unit or pendant which contacts a 5 Star Agent.

How much is it? *The GreatCall unit is provided at NO COST to those on the Gila River Indian Community with a medical necessity. GRTI is not responsible for costs accrued by emergency medical services, roadside assistance, or locksmith services, those costs will be the sole responsibility of the customer.
