Pre-K Enrichment Program
EXPLORE * LEARN * CREATE
The Smithfield YMCA’s Pre-K Enrichment Program is entering our seventh year of
excellence. Pre-K Enrichment continues to grow each year and is designed to prepare children for Kindergarten.
The Smithfield Y’s Pre-K Program prepares young children for kindergarten by teaching alphabet recognition, number recognition, shapes, colors, community
safety, gross motor skills, such as hand over hand cutting and tracing and so much more!
Although our Pre-K Program is dedicated to 3 1/2 to 5 year olds, the Y philosophy
is to embrace the entire family and make each year a bonding experience for the children in the program, their siblings and their parents. Our experienced
teachers take the best care of each child and help each student develop into well-rounded and independent individuals.
One of the many bonuses of the Smithfield YMCA’s Pre-K Program is the children are able to swim every Monday and Wednesday of each week, which helps build
confidence in the water and in their everyday lives!
Sign-up today & watch your child blossom, meet new friends & develop new skills.

7-Week Session
Water Enrichment classes are for parents and children to participate in together. These lessons
promote water enrichment paired with activities that will prepare your child for future aquatic programs.
Waterbabies (6 months - 2 years) is for babies and
their parent or guardian. This class will teach
parents how to help infants become semi-
independent in the water. It will teach parents to
hold their child facing outward and not “cling”.
Infants will begin to blow bubbles and feel comforta-
ble in the water.
Pike with Parent (2 years - 3 years) is for toddlers
and their parent or guardian. Toddlers will begin to
wear flotation devices and learn to balance in the
water to become completely independent of their
parent. Participants will also learn to blow bubbles,
jump-in the pool, safely enter and exit the pool and
many other pool safety skills.
Little Pikes (3 years - 4 years) is a transitional class
where the first 3 weeks of class is with the child and
the parent, and the last 4 weeks of class is with the
child alone with the instructor. All participants must
wear a floatation bubble and will learn to submerge
their face, learn kicks and scoops, swim to the deep
end and practice jumping in!
Sing & Swim (6 mos - 4 years) is for all ages! Get
your infant or toddler used to the water while
singing songs & meeting new moms and dads.
Slightly less structured with more play!
