The good news is that because of all of the hard choices that were made, we are now in a position to get back to something very close to normal and our school has a lot more freedom to welcome our families back in a variety of ways. Term 4 Week 8 Thursday 26th November 2020

We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where Lockington Consolidated School is situated.

We would also like to acknowledge our Elders past, present and future.

A message from our Principal : Hi Friends,

I understand how difficult, and at times frustrating, it has been for our families this year. Most of the restrictions that were put in place were mandated by the department, but it’s important to remember that whether or not we agree with all of them, they were there to keep our students safe. The good news is that because of all of the hard choices that were made, we are now in a position to get back to something very close to normal and our school has a lot more freedom to welcome our families back in a variety of ways. I have listed some of the key changes that we are making below, it isn’t an exhaustive list but if you have any queries or concerns please give me a ring (or drop in and see me!). Summary of changes

Parents are now allowed to enter the school grounds and visit the office, listen to students read etc…

Drinking fountains (Bubble taps) can now be used.

Students who have symptoms due to hay fever or asthma will only need to get tested for COVID if they develop symptoms that are different or worse than normal. Parents should consider getting a medical certificate from their GP to confirm that it is safe for their child to attend school if the symptoms overlap with those of CORONA (cough, runny nose etc…).

Face masks must be worn indoors by all visitors but can be taken off outside where physical distancing can be maintained.

Kinder to school transition activities have increased size limits.

Grade 6 to year 7 transition activities have increased size limits.

Awards night

We will now be able to hold our awards night (with some adjustments to fit in with the new guide-

lines). This will allow us to celebrate the achievements of our students together. The adjustments

that we need to make are;

it will be outside (under the Hay Shed)

it will be restricted to 2 guests per family (plus dependent children)

Our Award’s night will be held on Thursday 17th December, we will let you all know a time once we

have discussed it as a staff.

Graduation

We are now able to welcome parents to our Grade 6 graduation on the 10th of December. Like

previous years, Gr 6 students will be able to attend with 2 adults. This will be held at the Lockington

Recreation rooms and will commence at 6pm, finishing at approx. 8pm. We are so excited that

parents will get the opportunity to recognise their child’s achievements and celebrate their

graduation. More details will be shared with the parents of Grade 6 students over the coming days.

Energy Breakthrough Another year, another EBT event cancelled! Luckily for

us, we still managed to host our own event, with the

work, the stakes and the smiles still the same! Our two

teams, the Moovers and Lightning worked extreme

hard on their presentations, disassembling and

reassembling the cart, practicing and working together

to make a memorable event. Although camping in

Maryborough wasn’t possible, camping over at school

and developing our own race events made THIS year’s

event one to remember!

This event is such a fantastic opportunity where

students develop a range of skills across a wide range of

the curriculum! The students write their sponsorship

letter, design and run their own businesses where

profits go towards the program plus many other

examples. We would like to thank all the parents,

community and sponsors who still help make this event

not only possible, but completely cost free for our

families!

We are always blown away by the resilience of our

Locky students, but the way they can make the most

out of their opportunities is something that makes our

school and this group of kids so special!!!
