Hi Friends,

I am honoured to have recently accepted the provisional appointment of Principal of Lockington Consolidated School. I have worked at a number of schools over the course of my career but Lockington, with-out a doubt, has the most dedicated staff, engaged students and supportive community of any school I’ve seen. I’d like to thank the panel for giving me the opportunity to lead a school that I truly care about and I look forward to continuing to work with my team to provide a first class education for our students.

School Athletics It’s hard to believe that Lockington managed to win not one, but both age divisions at the athletics carnival! PUPIL OF THE WEEK

LCS ATHLETICS SPORTS

Mrs Angove's class have been writing recounts of the Athletic Sports held at LCS several weeks ago. Below is Lily and Patrick’s

account of the day.

“Go Green!” “Go Gold!” That was all I could hear when I got outside. This noise was stopped by Mr. Gray when he told us where we were going for our events. My teammates and I went to Distance. “Ready, Set, Go!” went the sound of Mrs. Roth’s voice. There were a million things rushing through my head. We had eight events and then the relays. My favourite event was hurdles because we had to do the higher ones. When I went over the hurdles I was scared that I might knock the hurdles over. When it was time for the relays I felt really nervous. When I started running the wind felt awesome. I won and our whole team received a blue ribbon. I got to race in the 10 year old relay as well. Green House won the sports and we tried to get the house captains to sing the theme song. “Go Green!”

-Lily 3/4A

“Go Green!” “Go Yellow!” I needed to block my ears because there was so much chanting. That’s a good thing but also a bad thing for all the teachers ears. All of a sudden the noise was broken up by the booming voice of Mr. Gray. A few minutes later we were sent off in our age groups. By the time we were half way through I saw smiling faces everywhere, both teams were getting along and everyone was having fun. Finally, it was time for the relays. First was the Circular Relays. Again there was lots of chanting. “Go Green!” “Go Gold!” and so on. The grades 3 – 6 students who ran were incredible. Then it was time for the Loop Relay. The P – 2 grades had their relay next. After the excitement of the relays it was time for the presentation of the Age Champions. Then, the moment of truth. Mr. Gray was reading out the scores for the winning houses. “Gold has achieved a total of 514 points and …. Green has 5 hundred and…. 72! Green are the winners! Congratulations, Green!” Green house goes crazy, they are so excited that they had won. I thought I did a really good job for Gold!

Inter School Sports Echuca This week saw our Gr 3-6 students head to Echuca to compete in the Inter School

Athletics Carnival. The students did their very best , and we came home with the

winners trophy on both days! An amazing effort from everyone. We would like to

thank those parents who helped out on the day, we couldn't do it with out your

support.

The grass was as green as it could be and as tall as the trees. Charlie, Hayden, Hunter and me were walking along. Jenny and Chloe were chased by an enormous T-rex. The boys saved the day. We punched him in the belly. Jenny and Chloe were safe. Leo

The big, big snow globe was the biggest thing. The snow globe sparkled in the sun. Hayden, Jude, Ethan, Benedict and me were inside. Something else was inside with us. The Monster smashed into the glass and freed us. We went back to my house and played Lego. Charlie

The haunted house was dark and it was spooky. The trees were creaking and the door was creaking too. Matt and Me and Jenny were walking and dad saw the haunted house. Mummy was scared. Dad wasn’t scared. I was scared. A witch flew out. We were running away and we were hiding under my Dads doona cover. The witch flew back to the haunted house and was never to be seen again. Alexis

“oh wow! Look” I see a beautiful, colourful, cloudy rainbow. It was sparkly. I picked up the pot of gold. A spider came along and crept onto my finger. Dad got the spider and killed it with a hammer. I took the gold and went to the shop and I buyed a new black, shiny car. Mel

The forest was damp and disgusting and dark. There were hundreds of trees. They were all different sizes. The boys were going to put on their costumes. They were camouflaged. Charlie put a green costume on. Hunter’s costume was blue. A huge, big, ugly monster comes. He swallows Ethan alive. Hunter was going to punch the monster and Hunter did. Ethan came out. Hayden

“Wow! Look up” A beautiful rainbow was sparkling in the sky and Lollipops were dancing in the garden. A tree was falling down on Heidi and I said “look out Heidi”. I pushed Heidi out of the way and I saved her life. Summer

The sun was so hot, it was making us drip with sweat. We went inside for a drink. Maddi, Cooper and Mel wanted to pick up my cat and dog. So when they picked up my grumpy cat and dog, they all got attacked and bitten. Daneekah

Dragon land was spewing out wicked witch bones and it smelled like blood. Flies were everywhere. Then the dragon spewed at Leo. Leos hair was on fire. I grabbed the fire extinguisher and sprayed Leo. He wasn’t on fire anymore. Then I poisoned the dragon and it died. Hunter

The volcano was dripping down. It was flaming. It was hot. The dragon was flaming too. It looked cool. The dragon came out of nowhere. It was scary……. But the Archer came and was shooting the dragon with arrows. The dragon was dodging the arrows, but the dragon got hit. He went down and crashed into the fiery volcano. The Lava burnt the dragon. The archer never saw him again. Benedict

I walked into the haunted house. It was dark and creepy and smelt wet. I could hear something. It was a witch. She had a big black hat on and a big bent nose. She looked YUK! The witch saw a zombie and chased him down the road. Now I could live in the haunted house on my own. Logan

“Wow! Look!” I see a big rainbow and I saw a rainbow sun. It was a normal size sun but it was light blue, light pink and light green and its smile had lip gloss. There was a green Goblin and a pink fairy. The fairy had beautiful wings and she wore lip gloss. Her name was Anna. The Goblin was going to eat Anna the fairy, but the rainbow came up and the fairy flew over the rainbow. The fairy pressed a button and the Goblin was dead. The fairy lived happily ever after. Chloe

There was a blue ocean with a rock in the middle. The rock had a golden star on it. There was a mermaid and her friend dolphin swimming near the rock. Then a pirate wanted to eat the mermaid. Mermaid was terrified of the pirate. She saw the dolphin and yelled “save me”. Dolphin saved the mermaid and they lived happily ever after. Lily

The haunted house was creepy. There were spider webs around the haunted house, but when I opened the door, water came out. There was a witch and a vampire and Heidi and a Zombie. The witch was slimy and sloppy and I was nice and clean. The witch came and nearly ate me, but a dragon came and ate her and she shrank in the dragon’s belly. Heidi

In school, its spooky at night and I saw a light in the grade 5 / 6 room. I followed the light to the rocket. I looked at the rocket and Chloe and Alexis were in the rocket. I was in the rocket too. Alexis hit the wrong button but Chloe hit the right button. The rocket was going to burst but Chloe saved the day. Cooper

There was a little tiny city in the distance. It used to have a forcefield but it lost all its power and a volcano had erupted all over it. A dienomite came out then……. It transformed into a Megladon. Crush Bandicoot was suprised. He said “WOW”. The Megladon and Crush went BISH, BASH, BAM!. Crush won and they rebuilt the city. They lived happily ever after. Jude

It was scary! I smelled Goblin snot! It smelled like rotten sheep. Indi and I were creeping through Goblin world. I was brave and Indi was scared. I saw a Goblin and screamed. Indi and I saw the Goblin. Indi got swallowed and I was terrified. I got my tickling fingers and I tickled him. Indi got spat out. She was gross. We went to my home. Indi and I had a shower. Cleaned up and then we went to Maccas. Ethan

The waves were booming on the rocks. There was snow. The sun was bright. The fish were beautiful. The Mermaid was beautiful and she smelt beautiful and fresh. The dolphin was gliding through the water. He had a patch on his tail. A pirate came and grabbed the mermaid. The dolphin helped the mermaid. The dolphin poked the pirate’s belly. He never came again. Maddi

The sea was beautiful and it smelt like flowers and roses. The water was splashing on the rocks and the sun was shining on the water. The mermaid saw a pink and beautiful dolphin. The dolphin’s tail was pink. She asked the dolphin for a ride. The dolphin let her jump on and took her gliding across the sea. They were best friends forever. Indi

The Preps have been learning how to write a NARRATIVE. A narrative is a story that entertains the reader. We have learnt to describe the setting and the characters of the story, to develop a problem and to find a solution. The preps spent many

lessons planning their narrative before writing. This was their AWESOME and ENTERTAINING results.

Grade 3/4 Tree Planting Our grade 3/4 students joined the Lockington Landcare group on Thursday

to help plant trees. The students had a great time by the look of the

photos. After the tree planting they were treated to a sausage sizzle.

Thanks to Wendy for organizing this event. LCS is proud to be a part of it.
